After-market pads for the Fit

project mu b force vs hawk hp

I wonder to know if any of you tried both pads? If so I want to know which u guys recommend and why.

Its for 90% street and maybe 10% race track(fun). Performance regarding noises level, dust and cold braking(like using them during winter).

Thx for the help!

Never heard of the Project Mu B Force, but I used to have the Hawk HPS on my 2002 Civic. Used for daily driving, so I couldn't tell much difference between OEM and Hawks, but the few times I did slam on the brakes they worked (obviously ). What I hated was all the brake dust it produced. Brake dust wasn't black either, it was a reddish brown color that was apparent during every car wash.

If you do get new pads, I'd recommend getting rotors at the same time. I had OEM rotors with the Hawks, so I think that's why they probably sucked. When used hard or for a long time the brakes felt like they were warping, being sticky like gum and not stopping. Overall as far as performance, I think the HPS were great pads though.

I used Project U B-spec pads before. They're pretty good for DD & autocross but I heard that there're fake Project U pads out there so make sure that u buy them from a reputable shop!

My brother likes Hawk a lot. I used Hawk HPS before on both my 00' EM1 civic & my Fit, and now I'm using a set of HP+.

IMO Hawk HPS pads is not a bad choice when u need to replace the pads. It's cheaper than OEM very likely & stops a litttttttttle faster than OEM pads. For the HP+, I find them pretty hard to bed in. Pedal feel is VERY in-consistent(cold/warm doesn't matter), very noisy plus it's way dustier than the HPS. Once the rims gets dirty u better have them washed when u get a chance or it's gonna stick to your rims. I wash my rims almost everyday now or else it'll be a challenge to clean my rims.

When I was using a set of Ferodo DS2500 on my EM1, it was REALLY easy to bed in the pads. It took me roughly around 100km(2days) to bed them in. Pedal feel is very smooth & graduate. Initial bite on the HP+ is too strong & it fades out. Dust from the Ferodo are in black, & it's some very fine dust which I can hose off 75-80% of it before I wipe my rims down.

So I'm planning to go back to Ferodo for sure!
