JDM Rear Discs

Anyone thinking of doing this? It can't be that hard. Probably not cheap, though.

The rear drums for the NA market is semi-ghetto. Discs would be nice.

Someone in this board mentioned that the Fit is sold standard with rear discs in Thailand. Supposedly, you can just order them from Honda Thailand and bolt them right on. Not sure if that's gospel truth or not. Haven't looked into it any deeper. Hope that helps.

I am curious what the total amount on the parts would be aswell, but also what the entire list of parts will include to complete the entire conversion.

I have done some homework, if you want to replace the rear drums then you will need the following parts :

rear disc rotors
rear calipers and pads
rear spindle
brakelines
e-brake cable
brake fluid proporting valve
wheel hub and bearing

Sounds expensive. Do you have a ballpark figure of how much it costs in parts?

I think they cost about $1400CAD approx. $1100-$1200USD for all brand new parts. I have been sourcing for used parts but they are hard to find.

Well you do it and make sure it works and then sell it as a kit

wow that's expensive... i'm sure $1400 could get me a good coilover set or an LSD...

does a car like the Fit honestly need 4wheel discs if one does not plan to turbo it?

No one will ever complain to have more braking. More is always better than enough

More is better, but I would like to see this conversion completed before trying it myself

I would imagine the master cylinder would/should be replaced also. Every manufacturer uses different mas.cyl. for feel & correct pressure. Don't guess, check BEFORE just changing to discs.

I'm the one who was talking about buying the parts in Thailand. I will take the list to a dealer and see how much.

If the car takes off like Honda expects, the U.S. aftermarket will have something the works by the SEMA show in November.

Look for companies like Wilwood and Baer to jump on this ASAP,they both have kits for Scions already

If rear drums are good enough for the Spoon Fit race car, they're good enough for me. Besides, they weigh less! That's just my two cents, but yes the conversion would be cool too.
