T1R S-Spec Damper problems

I bought the T1R S-Spec Damper about a year ago. I have put them in and taken them out once. Today, i was putting new springs on them and got to where i was trying to tighten the top bolt in the engine bay that secures the damper to the car. The whole things just spins. I have tried numerous things allen key in the top, vice grips and it just keeps spinning. A friend was helping me as well, we were both stumped.

Any help would be awesome!

i think what people did for their last resort was hold the thing in place where the thread is. have you tried lowering the car and trying then? so there is less pressure?

i'm not sure if im missing something here, but it's still spinning even when you're using the allen wrench? i don't get that part. shouldn't the allen wrench hold the assembly in place while you tighten that nut? my bad if i'm misunderstanding something here.

It should but where you put the allen wrench is on the 12 way adjustable knob. And it never tightens.

have you tightened the lock nut that holds the spring in place? part of me thinks that if there's no tension between the spring and the lock nut then the threaded part of the damper is more prone to spinning when you're trying to tighten it.

worst case scenario, remove the weather cowl and hit it with an impact wrench at the lowest setting and work your way up just to make sure you don't over tighten or strip the threading.
