15x6.5 +40 offset, 205/50-15 tires!

Yesterday i just had eibach sportline springs installed on my fit along with having my tires and buddyclub rims put on. Im having rub issues pretty bad in the back. Im not sure how to go about fixing this. I talked to a body shop and he said he could fix it but he doesnt recomend it and my paint will probably chip. I also thought maybe about putting the stock springs back on or getting different springs with less of a drop. Has anyone else had trouble with this setup ( 15x6.5 +40 offset, 205/15-15 ) or know anyway to fix this? Help!

Got down to 195 tires it will probaly eliminate that problem.
Im rolling 15x6.5 +35 offset and im dropped on progress springs. I get some minor rubbing in the front on hard corners or big bumps. Im running stock fit S tires which are 195.

Thats not a bad idea, im just lookin for the cheapest way to fix this issue. My options so far are - 1) take it to a body shop and have them alter things ( which i dont want to really do cause they said it will mess my paint up ) 2) put the stock springs back on and hopefully it will eliminate all rub issues or 3) switch tires. Either way im gonna be out money. The tire idea isnt bad but with that id have to sell these tires that i just bought, have the new ones remounted again and balanced and all that stuff and i wouldnt even been 100% sure that it still wont rub.....

dremel the rear flange looking type thing off your fender.then go to homedepot and get a rubber sealant and just lay it across so its not sharp anymore, plus it wont rust.

but if you have money, i would roll it....

i must get really lucky with my suspension. running ls meshies which are 15x6.5 38 offset with 205/50/r15 hankook k106. i had no rubbing at all. running with tein s-techs.

how does rolling it work? I assume that the body shop i talked implyed they would use a hammer to fix the issue, and i dont think i really want someone taking a hammer and hitting my car with it. The dremel idea sounds interesting... i just dont want it to look like shit... ya know... im short on funds but thats why credit cards were invented!

Strange your rubbing.
I have konig heliums 15x6.5's +40mm with 205/50's kumho spt's and don't rub at all, even over dips/bumps. Lowered on progress springs.

Sounds like its your eibach pro's. Did you measure before and after the drop?

anyways, try dremeling that rear bumper mouting tab thing under the fender. Its usually the first thing the tire will rub against.

yeah thats exactly what its rubbing on, i just read on a few other forums about people using the dremel or cutting in and they all now have rust issues.... i also saw them talking about a "baseball bat" tool to roll it. Not sure how that works but i guess if thats not done properly ur paint can crack and chip.... what a mess

You'll need to have offset greater than 45 mm., how much depends on how much you lowered.

not really. i had 15x6.5 38 offset. rolling on 205/50/r15 tires.

no rubbing anywhere with tein s-techs.

either you roll it, cut it ...or just suck it up

how much stuff do you carry in the back. maybe you just got some gi-normous tires. like the nitto neogens or something.

i guess tires really do play a big issue

My tires are Kumho Ecsta. They are pretty wide. The springs lowered it a lot, more than i thought it would. I rolled the fenders but i still have some rub issues when i go over big bumps or dips. I think im just gonna deal with it til i get coilovers and then maybe if i raise it a little bit, it will stop the rubbing. All i got in the trunk is a sub and amp. Both together probably weigh less than 15 pounds.

I highly doubt you will rub on that set up.

Cheapest fix - get 1" spring coil spacer from any 4WD shop.

I cut my fender lips, threated exposed metal with touch up paint couple of coats, but I am still rubbing on a screw mounts even though I trimmed them all the way to the screw. I need to mod a new bracket mount, or get a spring spacer.

Not all 205's are the same sidewall thickness. Some are wider than others.
I am on 15x7's, +38 with 205/50/15 Dunlop Direzza DZ1.
Best way is to avoid tires with extreme rim guards. Those the "the widest".

yeah i think the cheapest, actually more like free is just get over it. heh.

not to be mean...

but if you are having a huge problem, and are rubbing in the front then do the fender lining trick. just push up really hard on the lining and itll tuck into the fenders lips.

if you are having problems in the rear, you can A roll the fender(rent a tool for 50 bucks). B) you can cut the fender lip, in the rears...or take a grinder and just grind it down. and you will have to probably sand the bumper lip down in the rear. i had to do it on my car because my tire was hitting the bumper.
