Is it possible to...

Is it possible to mill down about 5mm from a 38ET offset wheel to get 43ET? Is it safe? I have 16x7 38ET OZ Ultraleggeras that I love. They are flush in the front, but I would like to have them set in just a little more than flush. How about machining the rotors? If these questions are completely stupid, I apoligize.

longer "crash" bolts can give a couple of tenths of degree more for adjustment.

Oh man, those wheels are pure sex! They are my first choice for wheels. I am a dedicated OZ Racing fan. I am considering 15x7's (only available in gray I believe) and anodize them in black w/red lip and spoke edges!

I am in the same boat with my white 17 year old OZ's that I powder coated 15 years ago! Pic in sig! Offset is+38 and with 205/50/15 Dunlop DZ 101 (with extreme rim guards) and they rub on the back screw and front fender liners at high speed on big dips.
I inspected them and determined that 2, (big) maybe 3mm would be safe, but no more than that. I would still machine new lug nut inserts for reinforcement to existing steel ones already embedded in there to give them back lost thickness but from the front.
I did not think about doing the same to rotors, but that is another big maybe. Getting some 2 piece rotors with thinner hats might work!
Next time I go to Los Angeles I will see a friend (an engineer) of mine who owns high end machine shop. He has 40 years of experience and I trust him, so I will have him take a look at my OZ's and give me his professional experience.

BTW, please post some pics of your Fit with Ultraleggeras!

Thanks for the replies. I'd rather not go the camber route, but it is a good idea.

***Warning the pic you are about to view is of a Fit at stock ride height***

DO NOT MILL THE HUB FACES ON YOUR WHEELS !, especially 5 mm. Removing 5 mm (0.200") will certainly weaken the wheel hub so much you may crack them just putting them on.
It is extremely dangerous to do so and will threaten your life. Squaring up with 0.005" or less can be prudent but 0.200" never. You'd be better off playing Russian roulette with a 44 magnum.

Thanks for the warning. I guess I will just live with it or buy higher offset wheels..

Thank you.
It was more than a warning; I guess I'm mellowing in my old age.
