Spray painting stock sport wheels
Spray painting stock sport wheels
is there anything i need to know before i start this? i want to paint 'em gold. do i need to sand the wheels first, or will spray paint stick to the alloys without a sand? help help help!
here wat you can try...
400grit sand paper, wash all oils off completely, wipe down with
PaintPrep or alcohol.
tacktowel it and paint light but full coats making sure you get coverage
on all plane.
then dry 1hr or so and then tack towel again before spraying the clearcoat.
give it 2 rich coats and let air dry for at least 48hrs.
follow up with some mild polish or compound to get the shine.
dont wax it for atleast 2 wks.
my legacy's wheels turned out pretty nice. even spot bondo'ed the area
where my wife curbed it.

ive painted a few sets of stock alloys and it isnt that difficult just dont rush it. the first time i ever attempted it was on a set of integra fat 5's. and like a dumb ass i rushed it because i wanted to get them on the car. they came out looking horrible.
all i can say is take your time. spray a light even coat, then eye ball the wheel from about every angle to make sure there is no runs or sags in the paint.
i have seen a few fits and left little pieces of paper on there windows telling them to join the forum to. i dont think any of them have.
