How do you feel about painting your calipers? Lame or game?

The way I feel either you have brembos or you don't. Why try to fake the funk and paint your stock calipers? But some people feel that with aftermarket wheels that show off your calipers it's good to paint them. What's your take?

leave it untouched, paint them black to match the rear drums, or its rice IMO

If you have all 4 calipers, its not so bad.
When youre rockin rear drums, black is the only way to go. Why show off color on rear drums?

+1

Even with calipers on all 4 corners, anything but black looks pretty bad. Most stock calipers are tiny.

I think untouched looks bad. Silver calipers up front and black drums in the rear?
Looks like you painted the fronts and forgot about the rears.

I thought about doing red calipers but then looked at the rear and that detured me from that probably going to paint them black.

I used to be the MOST function over form person around. But now with the way things are going with the economy, hot rodding is just too damn expensive. I say if you think it will look good, and you do all the prep work and use the right paint, then why not. Its your car.

I painted mine (red calipers) because I thought it looked good.

Not because I wanted people to think I have brembo brakes, if I wanted them, I'd buy them. I just thought it looked good.

Also, the brake dust doesn't seem to collect as much on (well) painted calipers. With the caliper paint, the dust seems to wash off easier.

I went ahead and painted the rear drums (black) too because the rust could be seen thru the unused lug holes in my wheels.

I say, it's your car, you're making the payments....do what you like/want and what looks good to YOUR eye.

LDO sends...

Painted calipers are cool but not the drums.
I painted my calipers on my last car and it look nice.
Only thing is having to be careful mounting and unmounting wheels cause they could stratch the paint.

drums i would paint matte black if the paint starts to chip off.

for the front caliper i'd probably paint it silver or the color that
the stock calipers are if they start turning rusty and ikky.

i too dont understand the point of painting stock calipers.

didn't the GTI come with red painted calipers or something
although its a cheap looking pos?
