Painting my rims gold.... yay or nay?

I want to paint these bad boys to gold. and perhaps leave the lip polished. Will be going on a Blue car.. I've liked the blue/gold color scheme. What you guys think?I think it would look pretty hot, im just afraid i'd F it up..... lol.. I've never paintied rims before, but im sure if i follow the write ups it would be aite...I"m also worried about the exact color of GOLD. Ive seen some pics of people who painted gold and the color is more bronze, or brown than GOLD. Tips hints? Anyone try painting rims gold? What brand? color? color code etc.? pics?

i dunno.. the VBP is excellent color for gold... If I was to do it.. I would do ALL GOLD no lip. I realized that with lip, it makes the rims look smaller at 16"

I'd think that you were trying to look like a Suby in World Rally Blue (which VBP is very close to) with gold rims.

yeah i like the color of jame's old wheels.
and yes, paint the WHOLE wheel
it's very true, it'll look like you're rockin' 15's if you leave the lip

isn't that exactly the point?

gold/bronze looks great on vivid blue pearl. or tw. or nbp.

luchen: as far as painting the rims goes, would you not rather just gets some in that color? it shouldn't be difficult, but what if you didn't get the exact shade? it may become irritating doing it over again several times.

thats my biggest fear of the color not coming out the way I want it.

I'm trying to trade my rims/tires for a set of gold ones, but nobody seems to want to trade...

The problem with painting your rims gold is you're going to have a really hard time finding a true gold spray paint that will look like factory wheels that are painted gold.

The "gold rush" spray paint color is more of a bronze.

I was thinking of spraying my stock wheels gold a while back, but I couldn't find a true gold spray paint anywhere.

Maybe if you used a white primer it might make a difference with the "gold rush" spray, but it's still not going to look gold.
