Fit Sport tire fitment question...

Will 195-60-15's fit on the Stock Fit Sport wheels? I don't think I'd have an issue, but I just wanted to check. I can't remember for the life of me of the "60" portion of the size was the height or width of the tire. My factory Dunlops are pretty smooth lol

the 60 refer;s to the offset of the wheel.
not sure if it'll fit though sry!

no no. the 60 is the profile of the tire, so that affects the overall circumference of the tire. the "60" is actually a ratio, but to make it simple, a higher number means a higher profile.

it will mount on the stock fit sport's 15 inch wheels fine. that's because all that matters are the diameter of the rim, which matches the diameter of the wheel that tire size is designed for, and the width of the tire, 195, which is the same as the stock dunlops for 07-08 fits.

you should just google it and read what all the numbers on a tire stand for. it'll be really helpful in the future.

i had google'd it and went to a tire shop to find out about tire sizing.
i thought 195 was in reference to the profile of the tire, 60 was in reference to offset, and 15 was the diameter?
either way thank you for the correction

no problem! here's a good article explaining it. Tire Tech Information - A Guide to Tire Sizes

195 is the section width in millimeters.

60 is the sidewall aspect ratio, or profile (it represents the height of the sidewall as a percentage of the section width).

and 15 is the diameter of the wheel that the tire was designed to be mounted on.

The 60 refers to the ratio in % of height to width of the tire section. Thus a 60 series tire height is 60% of the section width.
A tire 195/60x15 means the width is 195 mm (7.68") width at the widest part, (the bulge of the sidewall and not tread width) and the height is 60% of that width, or 4.60". That means the tire has an outside diameter of 4.6 + 15 + 4.6 = 24.2" (there's a section on the bottom and top of the wheel) and thats too big to fit on an 08 Fit which has a stock tire diameter of 23.44".
Rubbing will occur with heavy rear loads or severe bumps stock and much worse if lowered. If you're having trouble finding 195/55x15 tires at decent price try 175/60x15 or 185/60x15.
Or even 205/50x15 for max performance and still good mpg.
