Enkei RPF1 9.5 lb tires and Cold Air Intake Make Much of a Difference?
I have been looking at the Enkei Racing RPF1 wheels, which Tirerack.com states weigh 9.5lbs.
Do you think those wheels paired with a cold air intake would make any sort of noticeable difference in get-up-and-go?

The RPF1s are about the best improvement there is for a Fit... They will even extend the life of your steering, suspension and drive train component in addition to improving your handling, ride comfort, acceleration, and fuel mileage.... The PRM CAI is supposed to work very well.

look into the 14's as well. I have them and love them dearly. 8.4lbs a piece!

If the 14X7 is produced with a 42 to 45 offset it would be an excellent choice.... I would love to have a set myself but there are not many choices of tires being made in the 14 inch size nowadays and the other 14" wheels that I have seen and considered aren't as wide and weigh more than the 15" RPF1s..... Reducing unsprung weight and rotating mass at the axles improves a car's performance in more ways than any other change or modification can.

yeah my bad lol, but the design of the 14s is way different than the rest of the RPF-1 line:
the spokes are straight, with no bend/curve in them. Looks nifty. I still think someone should try putting them on their Fit.

An update on the 14x7 RPF1s for the GD Fit... I called Enkei today and apparently they don't fit It's not a clearance issue but apparently to do with the centre bore.
If someone could prove me wrong, I'd be happy to see it though I would LOVE the 14in RPF1 on my Fit!

I have considered Kosei 14X 6.5" wheels and tires with a taller sidewall if I decide for sure to go with a shorter, stiffer suspension... The original Fits had 13 inch wheels on the base models and I had the same on VW Rabbits I owned years ago.... There isn't anything wrong and a whole lot of positives to using smaller lighter wheels on a car with a small displacement engine... I recently took some 16"s off of my car that had smaller than stock diameter 195-45-16s on them and put my 15" RPFIs with stock size 195-55-15's back on and the 4.5lb wheel difference and lighter tires made a huge difference... The acceleration is quicker and steering is amazingly lighter and quicker... The braking is lighter and ride comfort is very much improved..... I also don't have to fight the torque steer nearly as hard when on boost in the first 4 gears... Unless you have a car that needs and has huge brake disk and calipers, larger diameter wheels are just a fashion statement and really hurt your performance, suspension, steering, and drive train components..... I have been driving legally for 45 years and I am speaking from personal experience on cars, trucks, bikes and motorcycles.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more!
I am trying to decide between finding some 14s that work and just going for a light 15. It might just be easier to go for a 15 since there are so many tires available, and it's not like they're much heavier. And the tire diameter ends up being very similar with a 195/50/15 to a slightly taller 14.

I have 195-55-15 Conti Pro Contact touring tires that weigh just over 15LBs making the wheel tire combo weigh a little under 25 per corner or about 9 lbs less than the stock wheels and tires... They perform well under general driving conditions in all weather conditions on sand, gravel and rough asphalt and are M S rated. There is no way I can stay with JCrimson's road race car with racing rubber on fast curves on a very smooth surface but his tires are as close to being racing tires you can legally use on the street and wear out very fast.... I like the idea of the advantages of reducing unsprung weight and rotating mass more than anything else I have been able to do to my car and achieving a reduction of over 36 LBs has made an unbelievable difference.

I did a little weigh-in myself when I was test fitting my rpf1s on the fit. According to the digital nitrous scale, the 15x7 rpf1 with 205/50-15 ecsta xs tires, they weigh in at 28lbs. Im running 15" steelies with 185/65-15 winterforce tires, and they weigh in at 37lbs. So im dropping about 36 lbs unsprung weight when I switch over to the enkei's. That should come out to about 720lbs of chassis weight savings.... Sounds insane I know, but I cant wait to see how it feels.....
