Cool Light Wheels vs Heavy Wheels

Light Wheels Vs Heavy Wheels - Wheel Tech - Comparison - Car Craft

While it is a totally different car. It is interesting that the scientific data for speed increase is neglible at best...

That test doesn't take handling into account. Losing wheel weight can effect traction in a straight-line situation- lighter wheel/tire combo's tend to increase wheelspin (same torque with less inertia), so that could explain some of the result. Also, there could be other factors in the vehicle itself that are affecting the outcome, but mostly the heavy car w/502 is what catches my eye. That, and the 215 width tires- can you say traction limited?

Not to mention, they're completely ignoring the handling gains from a lighter wheel/tire combo- that's the biggest gain area. While I like Car Craft, this article rubs me the wrong way. It's too tidy and short- it doesn't get into finding another factor as to WHY nothing much happened- Mark W.
