New wheel: Kosei K4R

I recently got a set of the 16X6 1/2"-45mm Kosei wheels ... I like them but the Eagle GT tires I put on them are much too heavy... I like not having the tires sitting close to the wheel well opening.. They don't scream out "Boy Racer" like cars with the flush look and the sides of the car stay cleaner on dirt roads and when it rains.. I have never had as good traction with other tires that I get with the Eagle GTs, but my acceleration and fuel mileage is way off.... I'll get some ultra high performance summer tires for my 15" RPF1s before summer is over if not sooner... The Kosei wheels look great though.

Something really sticky and sized at 195 50 15" would be great.. I had 195 45 16"s on my heavier 16"X7" wheels and they were pretty decent except when the temperature was lower than 50F they would spin like crazy... For about 15000 miles the Conti Pro Contacts in 195 55 15" mounted on RPF1s were great but they were getting squirrely. One went flat on the rear at about 80 going down a hill and was ruined. Slightly less diameter = lower final drive ratio so I was thinking that the 205 50 16s would be OK, even though they were heavy... Unfortunately I was very wrong. I was driving in a major downpour on Monday in standing water over an inch deep in places and even when I had the accelerator down at over 5000 RPM and higher in 2nd gear the tires never broke loose... The stock Dunlops would break loose and hydroplane doing that even before boost was installed... It has been a over a year since I have heard or felt the ABS kick in when braking. I had to brake hard enough I thought for it to kick in a couple of times since on the Goodyears but it still hasn't happened and the car just refuses to break loose... When I have to merge with fast moving traffic from a stop the tires do squall a little in 1st and again just a little more than a chirp after topping out 1st and hitting 2nd... I suspect that part of the reason is due to the weight of the tires but how much is hard to tell.. The weight really wouldn't be a bother if it didn't affect how long I have to be over the center line on two lane highways when passing some asshole that is driving 20 under the speed limit while on their cell phone, and 27.7 MPG on the last relatively conservative driven last tank of fuel.. They will do very well for driving on cold wet roads we only have to deal with for a few months a year...+

Wow, didn't know those got so light. I was looking at the larger sizes on the Kosei, which tip the scales in their favor a bit (from what I could tell.)

I'll see if my brother in law can help me with posting pictures.... They fit very much like the stock wheels which to me is a very good thing but I know a lot of people are more into the hella flucked thing.

But I would change my opinion in a second if I see one that looks right.

Cool,
it doesn't bulge too much? Taken hard turns in it?
Is there any reason why one would want to go with a x7 vs a x6.5? Am I just being paranoid?
I am looking at buying from TireRack, when the car is brought to Honda to reprogram the TPMS sensors, do they have to take the wheels off? or just plug in the computer?
You bought the sensors with the wheels or transferred from orig wheels?
Thanks, T. Coyote

Whoever is transferring the sensor will just need to carefully break the outer bead of the tire (or dismount tire completely), remove the cap with a 11mm 6-point deep socket and transfer the TPMS sensor's cap, nylon washer, and the sensor itself over to the new wheel; making sure that the hard rubber that seals the valve steam around the wheel and sensor is not damaged (which is rare unless dry rotted).
What year or generation is your Fit? 205/45R16s are recommended for the GD chassis and 205/50R16s are recommended for the GE.

Thanks, Hootie!
Good info!
Just got back from my 1st free oil change at honda, asked the guy there about TPMS with non honda wheels, he said it would be a crap shot.. so i'm not sure i'd trust they wouldnt break em.
Pretty sure TireRacks TPMS installed have been working fine with the Fit's reprograming from what i've read.
I have the 2nd gen/GE/2012 btw.
