will i rub?

bought some 17x7 38 offset Enkei EV5's in bronze.

I ordered thru tire rack, they didn't list the offset when i was doing the wheel/tire package... I figured they wouldn't sell a rim/tire that would rub...

205/45R-17 tires (bridgestone).

on a 1.5" drop, will it rub?

i'm more worried about the fronts than the rears from the looks of it.

thanks guys.

krunk13 06-01-2012 12:03 AM

probably...you know the EV5 comes in 45mm offset. you gotta click the drop down box

Nicotine 06-01-2012 12:05 AM

crap.... I didn't even see that.

I bet I'm stuck with them (i put them on the car, but havn't driven it yet, as there is no front end on it right now).....

think im SOL?

krunk13 06-01-2012 12:06 AM

No...What kind of springs you running.

Nicotine 06-01-2012 12:07 AM

i WILL be running tein stech once they get in...should be here monday.

krunk13 06-01-2012 12:12 AM

You probably gonna need max camber up front. The standard for the fit seems to be 45mm or higher on a 7 inch wheel. A 7 inch wheel at 45mm offset will extend out 14 more mm than stock. A 7 inch wheel at 38 mm will extend 21 more than stock so your probably gonna rub without camber.

Nicotine 06-01-2012 12:16 AM

gonna have to contact tirerack tomm, see if i can return/exchange them....

just my luck.

DreaMv 06-01-2012 12:57 AM

if its any kind of rubbing, it'll be minimal on large bumps and fast turns. BUT if you roll/cut/pull fenders you should be fine.. people are running WAAAAAAAAY lower offsets that 38 without rubbing at all.

Nicotine 06-01-2012 12:59 AM

this is my daily driver/winter beater....

dont wanna start cutting/rolling fenders.

gonna have to pay for return shipping. yay.

DreaMv 06-01-2012 01:00 AM

dont know why people are scared of a mild offset. everyone seems to be brainwashed to think 45+ is the only way to go lol

Nicotine 06-01-2012 01:01 AM

i'd like a more aggressive offset, but i'm not willing to modify fenders/roll/pull/cut to do it.

esp with canadian winters. the roadsalt is nasty. I don't want rotted quarters earlier than i have to deal with :P

DreaMv 06-01-2012 01:03 AM

with those wheels, i think a fender liner tuck would pretty much cover it on the fronts. but whatever you say man! i guess its less to deal with. dont lower it if its gonna be your daily beater

fitster 06-01-2012 01:50 AM

i dont think u will rub i was on 17x7.5 et 38
lowered 2"

i was fine
mine u im on gd tho

joey_fits 06-01-2012 03:09 AM

Gd on 15x6.5 +40 I rub. With my girl in the car I rub all day. I weigh 155 she weighs 110. I have about 1.5 camber up front. So you can make them fit but +45 would be better

Texas Coyote 06-01-2012 03:58 AM

I had rubbing issues with 16"X7"38mm wheels with 195-50-15s and Swift springs... It would probably have been acceptable to a lot of people I guess but I drive faster than a lot of people and don't like to have to slow down or drive through intersections with a slight dip for water drainage doing a zigzag...I am on my 3rd set of front fender liners in just over 50,000 miles and now have my car sitting at close to the stock height on BC coilovers with 16"X6.5"45mm wheels and 205-50-16"s

Nicotine 06-01-2012 11:13 AM

yah, i weigh 230lbs at the moment (aiming for larger too, and no, i'm far from fat :P)

so, that wouldn't work. lol.

gonna have to swap em.

Well spoon progressive springs lower the vehicle what 20mm 30 with extra weight of usdm chassis?? That's about how much lower I plan to go on my next day off.
Making my car much lower than yours hence rubbing..

fitster 06-03-2012 03:01 AM

10mm ain't much
I plan on dropping the rear bait more also
