Replacing wheels myself, help!

I got some snow tires+steel wheels on Craigslist for my 2010 Sport, and tried installing them just now. The new wheels are supposedly from a 2006 Scion xB, which is supposed to have the same bolt pattern and similar offset.

Anyways the bolts fit perfectly in the wheels, but the circular opening in the center isn't fitting over the axle (is that the right term?). It seems like the opening on the new wheels is about ~1mm smaller in diameter than the stock Sport wheels.

Quick MSpaint to hopefully illustrate what I'm trying to say: http://imgur.com/qhZeOZl

Is this normal? bad? If bad, are the wheels the wrong size, or do I need to use wd-40 or something something to get them on? I tightened the bolts standing-on-wrench tight and it's only overlapping 1-2mm at best.

A quick look on google looks like the scion has a 54mm hub bore and the fit is around 56mm so that might be your problem there. I wouldn't drive on the wheels since the probably are not on straight.

Hub bore is probably the wrong size.

Thus, you'll either:

A) Need to get that machined a bit larger
B) Need different wheels for snows.

Thanks for the help, I'm just going to get different wheels. If hub bore is important why does nobody list it when selling wheels on craigslist?!

Yeah, Toyota hub bore is too small.

You can get some 5mm spacers to clear the hub circle if that doesn't bother you. Otherwise, you're pretty much screwed with steel wheels.
