Post Gauging Interest: USDM to JDM Conversion for Socal

I've been on this forum for about a year or so. My family owns an auto shop in the Eagle Rock area. We've been there for about 30 years.

I've dabbled with motorsport parts for my personal use, but haven't opened a motorsport division for our shop. I'll be attending SEMA this year.

I presently own a 2008 Fit and am highly interested in doing a JDM conversion. My supplier overseas can supply me with parts. I wanted to see what kind of interest there would be.

I wanted my shop to specialize in subcompacts only, mostly Fit, Scion, and the Yaris.

I can also order replica J's Racing parts. Please leave me some input.

That would be dependent on what type of bumper it is. Modulo or RS. Also, whether the headlamps are HID or regular. I'm estimating about $2K-2.5K with the labor, parts, and paint.

The more pre-orders I have, the more I could probably lower the price. Maybe I'll be one of the few shops in SoCal to do the conversion.

I would have a better figure based upon how many orders I can expect. I would have to make arrangements to have them shipped by surface.

I'm also going to import some J's Racing style wings, canards, and tow hooks.

This is our company website: Welcome to Jass Auto - Home

Don't expect any fancy graphics or a motorsport section. I have to do everything myself. Work-in-progress. My e-mail is joe@jassautomotive.com

In order to advertise like this you must Contact IB for vendor status at http://www.internetbrands.com/ib/advertising#auto

On a side Note if you can do that price for OEM parts, install and paint thats a pretty good price!

If these prices are for a GD they are pretty good but......

If this is for a 09 GE Fit..... you might be in for a shock!...

For every " Needed " part for a swap minus paint & body work.. ( and you will need to do a lot of it on the front to make it work on the GE chassis )

Here is the price brake down ( Retail 100 Yen = 1$ )

Non HID Head light conversion parts RS trim $2965

HID Head light conversion parts RS trim $3870

Even with 30% off of the prices above you would not be able to come close to your estimate of 2000~2500$ with body work/ paint labor ect ect...

I wish you the best of luck ( it would be nice to get it around your estimate ).... but for the GE owners that are doing the JDM swap.... it`s very very expensive

Had no idea... people were still reading this thread. I'm working on shipping costs and getting inventory to have it shipped here. I want to avoid taxes from customs. Maybe I'll be able to get some GE parts later after they've been in the market circulating for awhile.

Why doesn't any body kit manufacturer just copy the JDM body kit to fit the US one. We would just need a company to make a replica of the kit to fit the US and for Depo or any other company to come out with projectors.
