CF hood with louvers (& friends...LOL)

SRSLY, how about a FUNCTIONAL exterior mod...

With all the complaints about engine bay heat...why hasn't anyone made a lightweight hood with louvers? Fiberglass or CF doesn't matter cause I would spray it to color match the car.

I'd shell out dough for something very similar to this:

Anyone else interested in something like this?

Yeah, those are wicked ugly. And not for the GE. Thanks for the links though.

Even something simpler...like the Z3 style slits...except over the hood and not the fender. It would look pretty clean if color matched to the car.

You didn't state any Fit generation in your original post.

Anyway, I wouldn't think that having those Z3 style slits would look right on the hood of a GE; the three creases in the center of the hood and the slits would make the hood look goofy in my opinion. Each to their own I guess.

Since you are going to paint your hood you may want to check out the kind I am using....RunCool Hood Louvers/Hood Vents For Your Vehicle - Cool Your Engine - RaceAce.... They really lower the intake air temperature, water, and under hood temperatures.

Post a pic of your car please.

I've seen their product line. I think they look "just ok" on off-road vehicles.

This type of "stick on" exterior mod is hard to pull off on sport compacts and usually looks cheap/tacky. Similar to the chrome "Buick-style" fender vents everyone seems to be sticking on their cars now-a-days.

I can see that you prefer form over function so why bother to get louvers at all?

Why? Because I don't want to slap aluminum pieces on top of my hood?

CF hood lightens weight and hood louvers allow cooling. I just want a hood that combines both. How is that form over function?

Again, post a pic so I could get an idea how it looks on the fit...
