where to spend $ first
where to spend $ first
I have about $2000-2500 CDN to spend right off the bat to mod the car.. (wil be grabbing the Sport in upcoming weeks), but would like to keep it as subtle as possible.. the wifey will not allow any modding (what she won't know won't hurt
) .. anyways where did you guys spend your $ first? I'm not gonna be going nuts on this car like I did with my ep3 (spent close to 20K) .. but would like stuff that is a good bang for your buck.. a few mods that I'm aboslutely getting for sure:
JDM arm rest - ~$320-350
Mugen Short Shifter - ~$220-$240
Zeta or some sort of Dead Pedal - ~$40-$80
Tint - ~$150-$200
2 way Alarm - ~$300+
lowered - $300-$1200 (depends if I just get Eibach Pro Kit or coil-overs)
so if using the Eibach's and the higher range prices I'm at ~$1500, that leaves between $500-$1000 ... and I'm thinkin' rims or cat-back exhaust ... what do you guys think?

ya, I like the wheels, but plan on grabbing winters for sure.. and I think I would rather have the stock sport wheels as winters than get steelies ... biggest size I'd go are 16" anyways.. wanna keep it light too

4.MUGEN Nr Silver face!!! .......$1,300.00

I've seen the Fit dumped on coilovers with the stock alloys and it does look pretty damn sick. I'd say get the catback, or headerback if it's still in your budget. On the other hand, you said your wife won't allow you to mod the car so maybe the just get wheels?
It all comes down to if your wife will notice how the car sounds with the new exhaust on. If you think yes, go for the wheels.
I'd personally go for the Exhaust though.
good luck.

yeah... you're right. it'll still be slow. hmm... you may also want to consider the Tanabe axle backs. they're pretty quite too and not ricey at all at a REALLY GOOD price..
So, maybe some wheels then? I want some new wheels...
... get some SSR Professors SP1 R's! Those are sick:
More Japan

Amazing that after saying you wanted the best bang for your buck no one has said Progress Technology rear sway bar yet. It is an invisible, cheap and great mod. Plenty of time for noisemaker exhausts and JDM doodads later.
that's a good point.. I remember when I bought the JDM type-R rear sway for my ep3 it handled so much better... what's the stock diameter of the sway on the fit anyways?
There's nothing on there from the factory. It's a little different than a conventional sway bar, it simply makes the rear torsion beam stiffer and more resistant to twisting. Huge thread on it here:

I would suggest a set of SPC front camber bolts and alignment done ASAP. That's pretty much the BEST mod I have on my car now. Didn't spend too much on it but big difference on cornering.
I will not suggest rear sway bar. I find the Fit rotates wayyyyyyy better than my old 00' SiR coupe. So i don't see a point getting rear sway. Window visors yea maybe a good idea. A good set of winter tires for sure(maybe some nokians?
).

I use camber bolts up front to gain more negative camber angle. Running -1.8degrees with 0 toe up front now. The bolts help no matter you got it lowered or not. My Fit handles quite a bit better with the bolts installed and alignment done.
I think if I were to get the camber bolts I'd try to get it as close to 0 as possible after lowering. Mind you, I've decided with the Mugen Sports Suspension and it's only a 1" drop all around so it wouldn't/shouldn't change the camber that much... if I were to track the car I guess there's flexibility to add more negative camber, but it's primarily a daily driver
Mine is a daily driver also. I travel 30km to and from work like most people do in Vancouver.
A lot of people thought they won't get "camber wear" after they got camber kit and dial it as close to 0degree as they can. If your car only go straight then yeah, probably. But you do make turns at any speed .......
Yeah they don't get camber wear on the inside. But they do get tire wear on the outside when there's so little negative camber since there's so much pressure to the sidewall & outside of the tire while u're turning.
People get major tire wear when they lower their car by a LOT, having excessive toe in/out setting(or some ppl doesn't even do alignment on their cars at ALL), or those who never rotate their tires.
FYI I do my alignment check every year and rotate my tires myself every 8000km or after every track event.

I think to each is his own. Depends on what you want to do? Sounds to me like you just maybe wanna dress up the Fit, lowered, shifter, tint, rims, etc. Those all are GREAT things to do to your Fit and will make it stand out.....however if you have a love for more power HP/TQ than I would go with I/H/E.
You are certainly NOT going to shave any time off of your quarter mile with exterior / interior upgrades, but they do add character.
Best of Luck,
Da Fitz..
