Yeah, I would trade with you during the summer but the central air in my house will not go go below 78 degrees after the sun comes up and you would probably die if you went outdoors. If the heat doesn't get you, the mosquitoes will.

no problems with the mosquitoes as i live near the woods around here... they are pretty savage too... and for the heat, you must have pools and cold beer too!! Eh!

I had a wading pool for my dogs, but the skeeters swooped down in mass and carried them away. That freaked me out so much that I swore off drinking and just stay inside till the freeze that comes sometime in mid January, give or take 18 or 20 days.

Old thread I know.

However, I just bought a fit and my cold engine light "never" comes on. I live in S. FL so it's not cold but the engine coolent is well below 125*F when I start her in the morning.

Edit: Nevermind the above post. The light does come on in the morning or when the engine is cold. I guess that I should drive the car more than 6 miles before posting such info in the future.

I haven't read through the whole thread, and for that I apologize, but I just want to say 200 miles on a tank is awful. I drive about 75% city driving (or bumper-to-bumper on the highway), and I average 34mpg. I also came from driving a Mustang GT, so it's not like I baby this car haha.

I'm not sure if this can be posted here, but I recently ran over a broken parking cement block with my Fit Sport. It now has a bent radiator frame, along with much body damge. I ordered a CF lip, which is on it's way. Did u guys know that the Fit can't be repaired at normal body shops because it's too narrow? I was surprised to find that out.

That is bullshit, you can get your Fit serviced practically any place that SHOULD be working on your car.

All perfectly normal and business as usual for the Fit - you either love the car and just look at these little things as part of its personality or you move on - My Fit is a 2007 and it still gets great mpg -

air ride seat, like bus drivers. thats what you need.

on a more seroius note, if you are concerned about the noise, you could have the entire car dynomatted for a few hundred dollars and a few hours of work. that would cut down on all noise dramatically.

to the OP, my fit is a 2008 base AT, i drive about 80% city and get 25 mpg (on average) i try to keep the tranny under 3,000 rpm's (when i merge into traffic i need to rev it a bit) . since owning the fit i have met with others who have the same experiences and i have come to the conclusion that honda just makes a sh!t bucket for a car and all the "hype" comes from enthusiests who have never driven anything other than an expensive econo box (honda) and i am imbarresed to say the "hype" is why i bought the car, asside from the total lack of power, sub par interior comfort, econo-box styling and possibly the worst shifting auto tranny i have ever driven, I would say the only thing in the Fits favor would be the handleing and roomy interior (except for the front seats that only work for 5'8" or bellow people)

this car is a sh!t box

and to all the nut huggers who tell the OP its his fault for buying an auto and to check your tires and this and that F off Honda marketed this car as a great MPG car and thats not what was delivered, so your left with a $15,000 subcompact that performs like a 8,000 hundi and gets the MPG of a domestic

epic fail on hondas part

My wife had an Accord with automatic transmission in the early 80s and My opinion of that car mirrors yours about Your Fit. I rode in one that was equipped with 5 speed manual and was amazed at the difference in performance and fuel mileage. It was just as miserable otherwise.... The only vehicle that I could never fault was a B.M.W. motorcycle with a Corbin seat.... As flawed as the Fit is I still enjoy driving it.

to nutz, one major factor influencing mpg is not how high you rev it, but how fast you rev it. If you stomp on the floor to 3k rpm all the time, that is worse than slowy accelerating to 5 or 6k rpm. No doubt that the auto gets worse mil. than the manual, but more aggressive driving habits will lower mpg. also, 08's are only rated for ~28 city so its not like its drastically underperforming.

Some "enthusiasts" can be stubborn and will only love their car no matter how slow or bumpy or rusted it is. Then there are realists that understand that the Fit is not meant for going fast, just a simple, cute, light weight, gas saving econobox. I pretty much understand how you feel, I got a Scion several years back due to all the hype and aftermarket availability. What a mistake! Nothing less than 20K new is sporty or fast.

Dude, look, city roads are shitty, and unless your car is heavy or has a long wheelbase it's going to be harsh--plain and simple, but every negative has a positive, the uber short wheelbase on the Fit is a blast to throw in corners WOT.

Although the GD3 has no MPG calculator (which are always flawed anyway) us GD3 owners don't need a calculator to know their MPG, it's simple math.

When the gas light comes on you have consumed 9.1 gallons of fuel so with some quick math you can determine your average MPG up to that point.
Come on dude...gas light comes on, trip odo says 282 miles...divide by 9...90 goes into 280 3.1 times...move the decimal...31MPG....oh look you did it!

I still can't believe how many times this thread has been resurrected.

I guess if you use any car to haul shit, it is a shit box.... I actually know of people that have a skull attached to their body by a neck they use for a shit box.... They tend to see shit every place they look because they live in a world of shit.... I don't let people like that get in my car and I can borrow my neighbor's manure wagon if they want me to give them a ride.

So how much do I love my 2007 Honda Fit - enough that on Saturday morning in the pouring rain to keep my interior from getting wet I parked in the garage to unload my groceries. My Mom just had eye surgery so I have been taking care of her and my sister who is bedfast with MS. I was bringing in the last three bags and came up on my concrete steps and zoom - my foot slipped on the wet carpet and I hit the steps on my rib cage. It knocked the wind out of me and I could not talk for a few seconds. It hurt so bad - so here I was lying at the bottom of the stairs in the rain and my Mom is calling 911.All I could think about was making sure my Fit was taken care of. I finally get up while my Mom is telling me to stay still - it hurt so bad but I got up, pulled the car into the garage, locked it up and lowered the garage door and then locked the front door - then the ambulance came to take me to the ER. No broken ribs but badly contused - This is my first Honda - and will definitely not be my last - I love this car and if I ever have any extra cash would love to find a Honda CRX to make as a project car. I've driven Ford and Chevy since 1978 and this car will always be the one I can honestly say has made me a 53 year old tuner who can see herself at the age of 60 driving a not stock Honda - anything!

brakes

first we love our Fit, 1st gen. We live in a rual area so most miles are highway and our fuel mileage is 32 on average. We're happt with that and the room kicks butt! How ever, the brakes have had issues since day one, but honda could never get the problem licked.. finally the at 75145 miles the brake master cyclinder has gone out. No warrenty on this part which I think sucks since I have a 98 chevy van with 140k on it and still havent replaced the brake linnings! to add a 93 geo sport that we have only changed the brake pads.... and its got 166k miles on it! Whats up with honda??? has anyone else had issues with this?
Thanks
