Locking Gas Cap

I've heard the Element gas cap fits on the Fit... is this true? Does anyone have one?

Do a search there's threads about that... but I've heard that the element is the same.... I just went to advance or autozone & they had the fit listed & in stock = perfect fit on the fit.

I've done a search, but I haven't found anyone who had one. I want a honda one because I've also read that all of the universals have the same key... it's just like the wheel locks...

Yes

The element and the fit take the same cap. Your best price on such accessories can be had at College Hills Honda or Bernardi Honda. You can get it from your Honda dealer if you want to pay more or you can get one from stant from Autozone if you want a cheap one.

I'm not worried about having gas stolen from my Fit. I've read in several threads that it is nearly impossible or very hard to siphon gas from a Fit. Virtually no need for a locking gas cap IMO.

I just bought a locking Stant Cap part#11507 at Advance Auto Parts also Pep Boys carries them too. My Autozone carries a generic style and can't cross reference them.

Removing Existing Fit Gas Cap

Yes, the Element and Fit locking gas caps are the same. Ordered two from College Hills Honda, one for my Fit, another for my partner's Element.

Is there a way to remove the exisiting gas cap on my Fit w/o cutting the plastic strap currently tethering it to the fuel door hinge? I would like to remove it without damaging it incase I find the locking cap a pain and want to go back to the origional.

Thanks.

you do realize most thieves may already have the same key(s) for those.

You can squeeze the tether through the hole its held in. I hoped to put the fit/element locking cap back on the tether but that didn't work.
