AT the base of the wiper blade is a plastic cap that you pop off then one 10mm bolt and the wiper come off. People are just using a plastic cap that plug the hole. Can't remember where to get one through.

The wiper is easy to take off, take out the cover and it is held with one 10 mm screw. As far as the plug, I did it with a 7/8 plug from lowes and painted it body color with touch up paint from the dealer. Love it! Looks a lot cleaner in the back+ no more collected crap when it was on. Here is a pic. of it.

For a little bit more time and money, you can smooth out and fill the hole then re-paint that piece.

I did that on my 2012 as well. I didn't paint it body color though.

So you guys are just taking off the arm and not the whole motor behind it ? The Fit looks SO much better without the rear wiper.

No I removed the motor too. I kept all the wiring in case for whatever reason I wanted to put it back on so I zip tied and taped them with electrical tape so there isn't any rattle in the hatch

Be careful not to break any clips that attach the paneling to the hatch...replacing those clips are easy but Honda charges way too much for them....if you don't know how to remove the paneling look at the DIY on here that should help

Did any of you guys use a dab of silicone around the plug so that water won't seep in during washes or rain ?

I thought about it...But when you remove the arm and motor you will see that there is a rubber piece that sticks out from the hatch (it surrounds the 10mm bolt that holds the wiper arm) I trimmed it down so that is was flush and covered completely with my plug in place so there should be no leaking what so ever. Plus the plug I used already had a very snug fit so I didn't see a reason to after I installed it. I've had the mod done for about 5 months now and wash my car about once a week I've had no leaks nor any problems regarding moisture

I don't know about you guys but my rear windshield wiper sucks anyway. It's really weak and unless it's heavily storming it won't even work. Seems like a waste of mess, weight and looks better without it.

Well you have to do some simple steps for removing the wiper out. First of all you have to pull the wiper arm away from the glass. then depress the wiper arm clip, which is located where the arm and blade meet. Slide the wiper blade down and remove from the wiper arm. Discard the blade.
thats all.

While I will agree that the hatch looks cleaner without the wiper, it is nice to have one when stuck driving in a torrential downpour

I pretty much agree. My hatch may look a little cleaner without the wiper, but my back window (at least the middle section of it) frequently looks a lot cleaner due to the wiper. I'll take the visibility over the aesthetics any day.

Help

I have a fit 2010 sport and the rear wiper blade just fell down one day when wiping. I noticed it also started coming on itself after that like I would turn on my wipers and the rear would also come on. It stays put if not in use and the motor is still working as I can hear it but the arm falls down. My father told me it may just need tightening but I cannot figure out how to get in there to do it any help would be great
