is the suspension top suppose to do this?

Right,
I havent notice this before, until today i found that when i turn the steering wheel right nearing a full lock,
the top of the right suspension mount pops up slightly where the rubber is,
and it the same when i do it left nearing a full lock and the left suspension pops up.
is this suppose to be like this?
or have i got a problem here?

heres a photo when it pops up to show you what i mean

I would think its not suppose to do that. That means your suspension is loose. Check the lower shock bolts if they are okay. or your front shocks could be blown.

thanks for the reply,
the lower shock bolt?, is that the bolt that is at the end of the suspension connecting to the axle you mean?
tbh the shock feels fine when driving though.

This is something unique. As the other member said, your suspension is surely loose.

you didnt include the factory top hat before you put your strut back on... or it rusted and broke.

take your strut off and inspect.

hmm, i went out to check and mine does the same thing, though not as severe. when i turn the wheel to right lock, the right strut tower tilts backward, and the same happens to the left strut tower when turning to left lock.

i haven't touched my suspension in years, and would never have noticed if i hadn't seen this thread.

you guys who are saying something is loose, did you check your cars?

i'm hoping it's not out of the ordinary because i'm feeling lazy and don't want to work on my car haha

oh and if you chime in, please note if your suspension is stock, or if it's been touched in any way prior. thanks!

right i have had some answers to this, but i am not sure which to believe,
i had a guy say this is normal and it is the same as his car which his is a 2007 with 7k miles on it.
so nobodys car does this when they go on a full lock?
and when you put the steering straight ahead,
there is a small gap of 5mm all the way round underneath the rubber disc

bump, maybe someone will be kind enough to check.

until then, i'm going to stay optimistic because i had always noticed a pattern of dirt/grime being rubbed off around the rubber base (in your photo), even when my car was stock and brand new.

it looks like your rubber base is thinner than mine, was yours replaced before? it looks like you have a GD3 fit, but your rubber base looks like it's from a GE8 fit. edit: or maybe it's because you're in the UK?

^-- this plus

My suspension is after market. It does not do this. This looks like either improper installation, wrong rubber part, or top bolt not tightened down.

mine does it too, but if the gap is too wide, and it starts to make annoying noise when you hit a bump, it means the support rubber cushion for your shock need to be replace, because those rubber is the only things that connecting your front upper chassis to the shocks here in indonesian rough and bumpy road it's usable lifetime is about 2 years, for 100 km driving every day, now i'm in my 3rd set of the shock support cushion with 166.000 km in the odo..

hope it helps

In Italy Jazz does the same thing....
It's normal... The rubber works as a stop limit, when you put the car on a bridge.
Anyway you can use a different rubber to avoid this or modify your stock rubber (as I did, but it's more difficult....)
In my opinion it's better to block the top of suspension, avoiding oscillations
