Well carboy you have put your finger on it: Honda cannot hit your price target if made in Japan. And can’t hit it from Mexico either with a 3000$ second power train. If you were willing to pay 24$K then maybe, but are you? Americans have got used to cheap cars.

Also designer confirms it will need re-engineering to the crash structure to pass tests in the us.

Having now owned an HR-V with the new "nose"... it looks like a non-chrome version of the HR-V/Civic/Accord nose.

I'm not a fan of the headlights... I think I would prefer it if the corner of the hood extended out to cover the top portion of the headlight, making it look flatter.

Some of the cars in Japan are hybrid only while they get standard engines in the rest of the world.

I remember getting exited when I saw the 3rd gen Fit previews. That car was awesome and good looking.

I may change my mind but this car looks ugly so far.

I really like the Crosstar. Even if it comes to North America, I doubt we'd get that one...

Crosstar is the most crossover-y of the bunch, if we got the new fits, we'd get that one for sure.

So, if the rest of the world gets the Jazz, and Honda has redesigned the logo to a new font for the Fit, what makes people think that North America won't get this?

Honda is consistently quiet until the intended announcement date, at least historically. So if LA show is the US announcement date, that's when we will get our details. I am looking forward to a Fit (FIT) hybrid, simply because that's what I want.

That and a Type S Concept AWD pseudo sedan. Then I will be happy.

If Honda intends to no longer sell the Fit in North America, they are making a big mistake.

My daughter in law has a HR-V, and I've driven it a couple times.
I just do not like it, and would not consider the HR-V as a replacement for my 2015 LX.

I understand the delay in changing to Gen 4, we went through the changeover with Gen 3 in 2015.
I also understand Honda's desire to go electric, a hybrid could be a smart move.
But there is no good reason Honda will not tell us what their plans are for the Fit.
I've been waiting for the Fit Hybrid since 2016, and would love to get a Plug in Hybrid Fit.
Now it looks like the 2020 Fit might not be sold in the US.

Does the HR-V have the magic seat like the Fit?

I wonder if the US gets an N.A./standard version.

Knope, I regard it as definite that Honda will make a non hybrid version. Hybrid just helps them score points in the EU and Japan. There will be either na or turbo small engines somewhere else. In the US? Up in the air at this time.

That new front window configuration that includes a large triangle window, and differently positioned pillars is interesting to me.
I really feel a weakness of the Gen 3 Fit is that very area. The pillars are very thick and create IMO a pretty bad blind spot. I've had to learn to look around those pillars.
The new configuration really seems to address this problem, and create great visibility.

I agree. The A pillar on the GK is one of my biggest gripes. Of course, it's an affliction shared by many new cars. The new Fit has what appears to be a clever mitigation of the blind spot issue.

I wonder what it'll do for crash testing as US standards are higher. That's not something that could easily be fixed by a different bumper...

I think it will crash ok - plenty of cars have upright a pillars. The forward slope is just for aero. It’s a really innovative strategy and maybe they’re starting to realize that blocking people’s view isn’ta brilliant safety innovation. although it risks in person looking like a 1990 Pontiac minivan ...

Ok I’ve just had a brain wave! What if the reason for pulling the A pillar back away from the windscreen is specifically to allow Honda the option to produce a North American version with a more upright windscreen???

You know... As would be found on... A subcompact SUV...

Won't a more upright windscreen hurt fuel economy?

Honda already has what they see as a subcompact SUV - the HRV.

I just like the new thinner pillars and bigger triangle windows.
From the picture looking out the front, it really seems to be more panoramic.

This will be a turn off to some people but it kinda..(slightly) reminds me of an AMC Pacer as far as how much glass you have to look out.

I had a friend who had an AMC Pacer, and it was great. It was like driving your living room couch around in a giant fishbowl.
