vibration at freeway speeds

have '07 Fit standard model with auto tranny, 2500 miles. Recently noted cyclic vibration/rumble while driving freeway 70-80+mph, most noticeable about 75 mph. Very few of these around here; local dealer road tested recently, but I don't get a warm fuzzy feel about correcting this. Anyone out there experienced this??

wow...........not all ,no vibrations on highway at any speed, hopefully you can resolve this, with other cars when I have had highway vibration was strictly related to worn and out of balance tires.

My friend has that problem with his 99 civic. It's from worn out tires and not enough air in his tires. So check yours.

Sport AT with 500 miles has the exact same problem. Honda service verified the problem yesterday but was mystified as to the cause. They will be calling the next higher service authority (in California) Monday to see if they have a clue. They did balance the front wheels - which had no effect. They did check for loose suspension components (on another thread someone had a loose shock mounting bolt). They did not rotate the tires. I'm not sure if they checked air pressure - I would suspect that they did.

I tried shifting to 4th, taking it out of gear, and turning it off, while the rumble was happening and it didn't make any difference, so I am assuming that the engine is not the problem.

This thing has electric power steering - right? If so, and I can find which fuse controls it, I might try to disable it and see if that makes any difference.

Regardless, if anyone figures this out, please post here. Thanks.

The problem was ....

Dealer changed all 4 tires from Dunlop to Cooper - the problem is fixed from the dealer's point of view. From my point of view I think it is 90% fixed. Not being able to test drive any other Fits makes it impossible to figure out what the "normal" level of vibration is. I'm going to live with it for a few months and see what happens.

Anyone ever hear of a whole set of tires that didn't play well together? They all looked like they were from the same manufacturing lot. There was no single tire that was bad - I tested the car with the spare in place of each of 4 tires (always on the back). Very strange.

Mine has a little vibration at 70. By 80 it's gone. I have brand new snow tires on - I was considering taking the car to the dealer to have them check the balance of the tires. It's not so much that it's really bothersome, but definitely shows up at 65-75mph.

I don't recall if I felt the same with my original 16" rims & tires, which I had for the first 1000 miles. I think I was just getting used to the car, and may have discounted it at first. I may just wait until spring & see if it happens after I swap the tires back (too cold these days to do it just for a test).

If you need good tires (read: best performance and low noise) buy TOYO T1R.

You wont regtret it. It is the best tyre in its class.

Take the car to a tire specialty, such as Discount Tires, store and pay to have them spin balance all four tires. I am not sure that the Honda dealer has the equipment to spin balance the tires.
