MP3 and Nitrogen Tires?

I just bought a 2012 Honda Fit in great shape but without the owner's manual. After some searching online I couldn't find any good answers and wanted to ask you.

1. There is a USB cable in the top glove box (not sure what else to call it). I read online that you can plug an iPhone or USB drive to play MP3s. I bought a 256 MB USB drive and plugged it in with a handful of MP3 files. The radio reports Unsupported Format. I drive is formatted FAT32. Does anyone know what file types are supported? For example can the Honda play 320 variable bit rate files? Should I used 256bit at fixed bit rate files? I couldn't find any information on the type of files supported by the Honda.

2. The owner said Honda prefers nitrogen instead of air in the tires. However, the tire currently have air in them. When I replace the tires should I make sure they have nitrogen in them? Does it matter?

Thanks!

1.) Format your USB to FAT. Variable bit rate MP3s up to 320 kbps should be fine. When I first got my (2010) Fit I tried using an iPod hooked to the USB in the glove box and couldn't get it to work (and a skim of the owner's manual doesn't suggest that it should), but multiple USBs have worked great.

2.) Air is 78.1% nitrogen. If you really want the extra 21.9% and don't have to pay for it, knock yourself out. Otherwise, plain ol' air has been working in tires for over a century.

This is the correct answer. I'd bet money that a typical daily driven vehicle won't notice any actual benefit from 100% nitrogen in the tires.
If you drive a racecar, sure! There's definitely benefits there considering the extreme temperature swings that gases go through in tires.

However, the majority of people with nitrogen in their tires could be using regular air and not notice a difference.

The 2012 Owners Manual says iPods, USB drives, and CD-ROMs loaded with MP3, WAV, or AAC files should all work.

Color me corrected.
I just took a better look at the 2010 manual and it does have an iPod section that I missed previously.
Not sure why it didn't work when I tried a couple years ago. I'm pretty happy using a couple old/small USB sticks, but might have to give my equally old thrift-store iPod a try again.
