Sunroof?

Has anyone heard if we are going to get sunroofs as an option from Honda? I see on the Honda UK site that a sunroof is available.

It wont be offered here in the states for the current generation of Fit. I have heard claims that a sunroof would affect the structural rigidity of the roof, but looking at the CAD frame structure drawings, I believe that to be a bull s h i t excuse.

If you really want a sunroof, you can add it on yourself. It isnt cheap though. Around $1k I think.

I have to believe the reason was purely cost.

If you added another $900 or so to the Fit's sticker, you are hitting Civic territory. Whether Honda didn't want the Fit to compete with the Civic, or they just figured that Fit buyers wouldn't care, who knows.

I wish it had a sunroof available...I think I'd then give the Fit a perfect '10'. It's the only thing besides an armrest that I can think is missing, and I'd much rather have a sunroof than an armrest.

For the record, I'd say it's about a '9.5' as is.

I just can't imagine a car in this class not having the option of a sunroof. I agree that a hole in the roof would make this car much more desirable...I realize that the US could have a whole other set of crush/crash standards from the UK, but I don't think the UK is getting an unsafe vehicle!

I would have paid $900 for the sunroof, and for leather and nav too. Apparently the "upscale small car" market is non-existent in USA. BMW Mini is just too small though...

I'm going to have one installed. I just can't live without one. I'm willing to pay for it to be unique. And I got NAV for it.

I think the older model (Jazz) have the sunroof available. I was looking for that option too when I was buying my 07' Fit. Is there even any aftermarket sunroof that we can add on? and that It will not leak?

In my Scion xB I had Toyota install a moonroof. It tilts as well as slides all the way in. The company they took it to was a RV place that does that sort of stuff for all kinds of vehicles. The brand of moonroof is 'Webasto' and it's never leaked. In fact, I'm quite happy with it. It's probably one of the ONLY xB's with a moonroof. I think I might find this place and take it back to them to do both the Fits. (Temper and Tantrum)

It will cost about 1,500 dollars.

I'm located in Stockton, CA. I will for sure let you know what I think, but I know I'm going to love it. I love it in the Scion. Very professional job. Looks like it was a factory addition not an aftermarket install.

Has anyone asked Honda customer service if they recommend a particular sunroof?

I talked to a Honda rep at an autoshow last year and that was what they suggested.

Send me a pm when you are done with it. I'm only about 20 miles north of Stockton. Would love to come check it out.
