Why do you like your Fit??

Tonight, a coworker of my hubby's, asked about the Fit, wondering what he liked about it. I know as a woman & mother, what I like about it, but would love to hear why you bought your fit.

For me:
Safety
MPG
it's a honda

these are my serious answers.

it's so odd looking that any dents/dings only add to it's character. you dont have to worry about it in parking lots. it sips gas, it's FUN to drive, plenty of room, comfortable, good stereo, cheap to own/maintain and the list goes on and on.

We traded from a 2005 GMC Envoy XL to the Fit, reason being, my wife felt uncomfortable driving the large SUV. The styling and fuel economy actually made the decision to switch even easier. Plus it's a Honda so reliability is really a non issue.

And I have started to love the color on my car too. Actually I think the car design looks realy nice too. I'm getting used to it and love the curves on it more each time I see it.

1) It's a Honda, and Hondas are well-known for being excellent cars that last forever (nearly). I had considered a Yaris when I first started looking, but my mechanic told me that while Toyotas ARE good, Hondas are MUCH better.

2) It's cheap. I mean inexpensive. As a young man without a lot of money who desperately needed another car before my old one stranded me somewhere on the highway, the low priced Fit was very attractive to me

Yes it's fun to drive, but so are a lot of cars. A low-priced, high-quality product is what got me looking at the Fit, and I never looked back!

Why I bought it? Because the 5 door Yaris did not come to the States, just Canada. The Fit is my first Honda I have owned.

What I like about it? Good economy, fun to drive, roomy and not a bad road car, good price and nice 5 speed MT. 23,000 miles in the first year and not a problem with the car.

What I hate: silly vertical door locks, no cruise control on the base model, and the first Japanese car we have owned without automatic shut-off headlights.

1. Practical and Fun! we can (and have) loaded soooo much into our Fit its awesome

2. MPG....it DOES get better as the motor gets used. after the 3k mile mark we have never seen anything lower than 32.5 mpg combined

3. Style/Interior.....better than any other B segment car ive seen.

4. IT IS A HONDA! so far ive had great reliabilty out of these cars and very easy to work on yourself to save the cost of mechanic doing the repairs.

5. and Finally. the aftermartket support....it keeps on coming and adds the lil personal touch to the car

Thumbs up :)

For me it was the unusual combination of being fun to drive, economical on gas and safe. It's easy to get 2 but rarely all three. Plus the fact that it's a car that's made to last.
Call me wierd but I actually like the way it looks, but then again ever since I drove a 1984 VW GTI, I've been hooked on hatches....
to think before that all I drove was a Dodge Ram <shudders>

I'm with Tonejunkie, it's a trifecta!

Why I bought:
I have always loved small cars with personality. (67 Beetle, 94 Civic 2D, 01 Beetle) After my New Beetle's endless problems, I wanted to go back to a brand I knew was highly reliable, Honda. But after driving a yellow new Beetle with big white daisies all over it, I really wanted something fun and unique. Accords and Civics are nice, but the Fit? FUN! The more I read online about it (personal reviews, Consumer Reports etc...) the more I was sold. Also as an avid biker, I was sold on the Fit's magic seats and spacing. (Gotta admit tho, bit of a marketing fib about the bike in Tall mode unless it's a kid's, I have to take both tires off, but that's livable). I was interested in being environmentally friendly and saving money on gas. The only way to talk my husband into a new car was one with a low price point but he knew I'd be safe in. All these things meant the Fit was the car I wanted.

Why I love it now:
Ok, so I have only had it for a couple days, but D@mn! The car is so FUN! Peppier than my non-turbo Beetle, I LOVE my color! (VPB) I am having a blast planning out and ordering the after-market goodies to make it "me". With both tires off, my bike is in there whenever I need it and i still have tons of space in the back. I couldn't be happier!

For me, I really really love the interior. It really is the nicest interior of all the cars in it's class, and is even better than some more expensive cars, IMO. The only thing thats missing is an armrest which I've found can be purchased aftermarket. I also love the MPG.

Why I like it?

1) It's made in Japan.
2) It's a Honda.
3) Best interior in its class...IMHO.
4) Best driving experience in its class...IMHO.

That pretty much sums up most of what I like about it.

- cargo, can play with front/back seats in different ways
- sporty look, but I drive a Sport model
- paddle shifters and cruise control
- easy to park as I live in a super congested city
- not bad on fuel efficiency
- very fun to operate... paddle shifters again
- blue colored dash gages in line with my XM's blue screen
- had a '98 Civic hatchback before Fit

Okay so I thought about it and here is my list:

Gas mileage
Safety
Fun
You don't need a step stool to wash it
you can take any parking space
when you get to costco and the kids let the door fly wide open they don't hit the vehicle next to you on either side
when i pass other fit owners on the road we wave ( I have no idea who they are but still)
It really doesn't feel that small on the inside ( my mom has a big old buick and it feels crampy)
the turning radius
Spunky
paddle shifters (feel sporty without the commitment of having to shift)
getting to the gas pump after and leaving before someone else is done
Cargo ( I put 16 patton fans in the back )

oh and by the way there are far to many great things about the fit to focus on "dead Pedals"!!!

10-4 on everything you just said but... Fit is a bit higher than the Civic so you need more arm flex to wash the roof of the car

1. price

3. Both of my parents have Hondas, and they have been excellent.

I actually bought the car without even driving it. I was only in Atlanta (where my parents live, and I'm based cuz I'm in school) for a couple of days, and I could get it with 6% sales tax and the help of my parents if I bought it there, so I did. I was in the dealership for 3 hours, and the first time I drove it was off the lot. IMO MUCH better drive than the civic. I simply cannot make a 1-2 shift smoothly in my mom's civic EX. The fit, on the other hand, is smooth as buttah.

I've had my Civic EX for almost 7 weeks and I only nail a shift from 1st to 2nd like half the time other usually it's a bit jerky. Maybe I don't know how to drive standard, this is why I'm going to be moving to a Fit Sport Auto very soon.

The fit actually put a smile on my face last night. I was driving to a friend's house, and there's a small stretch of road that curves pretty tightly, with a short median in the curve part. I've taken that road many times, but last night I decided to "hug" the curve. It felt good Never had a car with such tight, fun handling (though to be fair, I come from a long line of Ford Escort and Nissan Sentra-type used cars), and that 2 seconds of driving made me smile ... just need to find a longer stretch of curves
