AT Fuel Economy POLL

Like the title, select the lifelong average MPG. If the car is new please refrain from submitting a vote till you've gotten atleast 3-5 tanks worth of data. One bad tank could mess up the numbers alot. Thanks guys

Gordio 05-06-2007 06:39 PM

I have to say, I'm glad this poll was made. It shows most people with auto are not getting the bad mileages (~26) I thought they would. My EX 120hp civic got 27 (i live in SF which is full of hills). But then, the sampling for this poll isn't big enough yet. I hpoe more people vote.

Unfortunately I did vote already.
Since the average of my CVT-Jazz is on the bottom of the list (39-41 MPG), I consider it is messing up the results.
If it is possible, a Moderator may delete my vote.
Thanks.

tainogunslinger 07-27-2007 08:58 AM

i'll have to return to this poll after a bit... i just got my fit wednesday and i'm still over half a tank :D

10.8gal tank, right?

rekcah 08-01-2007 08:19 AM

I am in the 30-32 range. I have about 30 tanks of data over the last 4 months

I drive some rual and some freeway driving with a little bit of City

I wish we got a cvt option. I love it on my civic hybrid. Is your jazz a 1.3l also?

According to the specification it is 1339 cm³, don’t ask me why they name it 1.4l?

At Mpg

My Fit is in the 33-35 mpg range. And I voted.

Hopefully, the Fit gets better mpg over time.

TomPer 08-03-2007 06:17 AM

Civic was better!

I'm on my fourth tank of gas and averaging 24.7 mpg. Not good. My Civic was getting around 31.

deezfit 08-06-2007 09:26 AM

ya im not getting the best of mileages from my tank of gas either, and here i thought i was gonna get around 35ish.

TomPer 08-20-2007 06:56 AM

Gettin' Better!

Okay FitFreaks, here's the deal. I posted above that I was gettin' around 24 MPG. I was filling up every week. So I decided to take the advice of others and wait until my tank was down almost to empty before checking. I do mostly in-town driving and my last fill-up (just over 8 gallons) gave me a much better 31.22 MPG.

eldaino 10-17-2007 12:39 PM

i usually average around 34, but long highway stints have easily gotten me 39 mpg. Not to shabby when you can fill up with 25 bucks or less.:)

TOOL 10-17-2007 12:57 PM

36-38 for me!!!

92dxhatch 11-19-2007 02:21 PM

my fit sport is doin awesome at around 36-38. and that was around 40 tanks or so, hope that helps.

the fit still does really great at 85mph...from Norcal to LA and Back with an average mph of 85-90, i got 35-36 mpg!
my friend caravaned with his 06' civic, only got 28 doin 85mph.

Fit Milage Disappointing

I live in the Oakland, CA hills and the MPG on my 2007 automatic Fit Sport, after 12,000 miles has averaged just below 25. The best milage has been around 37mpg on a trip to Tahoe, but around town it has been as low as 22mpg. I attibute the relatively poor fuel economy to to the hills, the stop and go nature of in-town driving and a load that generally includes one or more passengers.

pip_rocks 11-21-2007 07:27 PM

i generally get 32-33, so i was right in between :) i went 33-35 though because i have gotten 42 mpg on a few tanks in a row when i was only doing highway driving. haven't been under 30 since my second fillup.

kennef 11-21-2007 09:18 PM

22, 21, and 24 mpg on the first three tanks. those tanks featured a hard break-in method of driving which was, as much as reasonably possible, either wide open throttle or zero pressure to the gas pedal.

32 and 36 mpg for the last couple of fill ups. 36 mpg was for reasonable driving, i.e. cruise control, easy acceleration, no unnecessary application of throttle.

really love this car. and MPG is only one of its high points.

BBGorson 11-26-2007 04:05 PM

Bad on Local

around 20mpg around the city and about 37mpg on highway.

Packy 03-11-2008 05:57 PM

Doing an average of 29.5, and we have 20k miles on the Fit. It's roughly 70% city, 30% highway driving.

On road trips we regularly get 32 to 40mpg. Depends on conditions :)

redhorse25 03-11-2008 06:21 PM

already voted and i got my fit like a year and 3 mos. average 33 MPG all highway driving

Gryphon 03-12-2008 10:47 PM

Just 4 tanks since new, all city driving apart from two 100 mile freeway trips, and every tank has been 29 mpg except one (with lots of freeway miles) at 33.

By the way, Jazz owners please convert your foreign gallons to US gallons as the US gallon is smaller than an Imperial gallon.

Edison Carasio 04-03-2008 09:42 PM

I got 32 for my first few tanks. I was driving real easy and slow. Highway driving in ST. Louis is as bad as city in the AM. This morning and yesterday for example, stop and go took me an hour to do 25 miles, all highway. Last few tanks have been 27, 29, 30. 27 was driving like a maniac all weekend, 29 moderate and 30 moderate.

07FitSportNJ 04-04-2008 12:13 AM

I have had 51 trips to the gas station and over 11k miles of 80% city driving. I have kept records of each and every fillup and I get 27.3 mpg life time average as of this Sunday (03/30/08)

dctucker 05-23-2008 12:06 PM

Just got my Fit on Saturday. I'll be posting my FE as soon as my tank needs refilling... I'm anxious to see how it does. No SG, just doing the math using the tripometer. So far it looks to be ~29 and I'm down to 1/4 tank.

novarod 05-23-2008 02:44 PM

Has anyone here made a comparison after using synthetic oil and/or better air filter (i.e., K&N)?

I did those two things on my 97 Civic and brought my avg mpg up from 32 to 35 mpg.

NovaRod (Fit is too new to do that yet)

Pacedog 06-23-2008 01:55 PM

31.1 mpg on my first FULL tank that I put in...

Pacedog 07-11-2008 08:29 AM

Latest mpg

11 gal
369 miles

33.5

GBjaynu 07-14-2008 09:52 PM

Live and work in Dallas right now...

my first 5 tanks got me 38.33, 31.84, 33.22, 34.11, and 31.77 mpg. I usually pump around 8-9 gallons. I wonder if gas brands matter? For some reason, I try to stick with Shell and Chevron. Also, I made a similar trip with the first and fourth tank ( Dallas to Houston to Dallas ), and I've gotten different mileage. The first tank was with the Honda tank, and the 4th was with Shell.

Anyhow, I'm getting great mileage I would like to say. I usually have the AC on the 2nd level, moderate pressure, and I usually let my car warm up before driving in the morning and afternoon.

PS. I usually carry between 30-40 lbs. in the back.

nutz 11-27-2008 11:49 AM

wow i am doing something wrong or some of you are fidgiting with your numbers
i have 2008 AT non-sport
i average 22-28 mpg with very light driving (try not to go above 3k rpm) 75% city

my worst was 20 mpg (wrote that off as a miss-calculation on my part)
my best was 32 mpg (i smiled :) )

i only have 2.6k miles (about 4 months) miles and i know my milage is getting better as i break in the motor

WWLI 12-09-2008 10:42 PM

I lug around 3 people in the '09 fit sport driving both city and highways up and down the hills of ATL and I am averaging at 30-33mpg doing about 70-80mph.

The A/T shifts before 3k so my feet is pretty light on the gas.

Kibosh 12-23-2008 08:44 AM

I posted in another thread that I have been getting on average 43 - 44 mpg but my best so far was 45.1 about 2 weeks ago. I have 5963 miles on mine to date.

very_fit 03-05-2009 02:53 AM

I've been getting crappy gas mileage. 22 mpg overall. I bought the Fit specifically for gas mileage, so this sucks! My friend's BMW 325i gets better gas mileage!

stop revving the thing to 5K and you will see better MPG.

lots of people on here just don't understand that how you drive
tells alot.
after 12 consecutive tanks i get 39 MPG.
other people can't get above 35 others 30 you 22.
if you want better MPG accelerate slower (2500RPM MAX) and don't go over 65 MPH. simply follow these rules and you will see good MPG.
oh and don't idle to long either.

not trying to bash anyone.
it's just that no one has looked at MPG since recently.
i to myself. but as the years past i got more aware
about my MPG and i adjusted my driving style.
man i used to fill my gas tank twice a week with my 5.0
what a gas guzzler that was.
never even knew what MPG it got. gas then was
89cents a gallon. so i didn't care. but now i do.:wavey:

Shaggs2Dope 03-20-2009 05:25 AM

Pretty much gets 32-33 no matter how it is driven. I have gotten a tank of 36.6mpg mixed driving, which is pretty good for no messin with the car, or hypermiling crap, just driving it, pretty decent IMO

andrewwdang 09-02-2009 02:46 AM

27-29 average on an 07 base with fujita Sri and a Megan axle.. Driving semi aggressive with the occasional full vtec/redline

crowonsnow 09-03-2009 08:41 PM

Around town is 33-38. Two road trips were 46 and 49, but that’s because I kept the speed down to 60. The car only has 1300 miles and the mileage will go down when Winter arrives for sure. This car loves flat roads and 55-60mph.

krakhed 09-29-2009 11:52 AM

I get 33-35 mpg on almost every tank except long distance ones.

Long distance Louisiana to Florida averaged out to 41 mpg and i was rolling at 70 the entire way.

And if I just get stupid, I get about 25-26 mpg on a tank. But that's when I wanna use my paddleshifters and act all indy car...:rotfl:

MIAMIFIT 09-29-2009 01:01 PM

I wonder if different States have more or less ethanol added to the gas?
I know the more they put in the less mileage you will get.
Mine gets 30mpg on every tankful.

krakhed 09-29-2009 02:06 PM

I think it's constant at 10% but I could be wrong. As far as different tanks mpg's in different cities, I usually stick out to 33-35 but i do a combination of city and interstate driving.

But that's here in florida. In louisiana i did about the same mileage wise except i ran a bit higher since i never used the A/C...yea....

Respectfully, I have to disagree. Throttle position is far more important than how high you rev the engine. Yea, if you floor it all the way to 5k, you'll have crappy mileage. BUT, if your throttle position never goes past 50% and you shift in the power band (4500-5000 rpm), your mileage will not suffer.

I have a 2008 AT Base. If I manually shift at higher rpms, I consistently get 36 mpg. I now have 22K miles, and the worst tank of gas I've had in the last year was 32 mpg. I don't hypermile. I commute during rush hour and drive mixed with stop and go included. I drive 75 on the highway. I run stock tire pressures. BUT, I never take my throttle past the halfway point.
