Would you buy an 07 Fit with a rebuilt title?

There is a rebuilt title 07 Fit Sport for sale with 9k miles, asking $10,900, but I think I can haggle down to $10k. I am wondering if you guys think its a good deal?

It was hit on the side and the curtain and side airbags were deployed. The airbags were replaced. The two drivers side doors were repaired (not replaced) and repainted, along with the front bumper and headliner. There was no frame damage.

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Too much risk and you are going to have a hard time selling it.

No, because

I wouldn't do it. It isn't that much more to have a new car, with warranty, etc; plus with a new one you always know how it has been treated.

I'm going to vote with everyone else, don't do it. A salvage title dramatically reduces the resale value. If you don't care about the regular market value of the car, it's not a bad way to get a shell that you might trash while racing, like sLiVeRwOrM suggested. Even if you decided to buy it, I think that $10K is too high.

Why did the insurance company total out the car?
Because it would cost more then the vehicle is worth to bring it
back to up to proper SAFETY STANDARDS!
Do you really think someone has spent that kind of money to do so?
and can now sell it for $10,900.

I would definitely not do it. My Ford Ranger was the victim of a hit and run. It was a 96 with close to 100,000 miles and the insurance wanted to total it but did not . They gave me enough to work on the drivers door and replacing the tail light. The door never really felt safe to me after that and I know if I had been hit on that side - no doubt that the door would've popped open. I was lucky to get $1,000.00 out of it on my deal for the Fit considering the damage to the drivers side. It is true that they are never the same once they've been involved in an accident.

As pretty much everyone else has stated, be very careful on something like this....it would make a great project car if the price was more like 6-8k, but doublecheck everything before you go spending 10k on something that has been repaired to that extent. Certainly at least have a full digital alignment check done to verify the frame is straight. If everything checks out ok, you may have a deal on your hands, but I think 10k is too steep.

alot of guys do this for a living the only way to make money is to cut corners they also try to sell it from their home so you won't see all the pieces of the car(s)

you are asking for one big headache in the long run

For the insurance to total it out it had to be damaged more than 60% value of the car, which equals out to about $11,000, I think either there lying to you, or thoes Airbags are realy ****in expensive.

We've replaced Honda Fit airbags before, not only do you have to replace the single airbag(s) that has deployed, but you have to replace the computer module that controls it, and that thing is EXPENSIVE from the dealership. In the end, you're looking at a couple grand. Then you have to factor in bodywork + paint, and then you realize it's not hard to salvage a Fit since it's price is pretty low to begin with.

Hell, I know someone with a Mercedes CL-550 that was crashed + burned from electrical fire and it's still not salvaged haha

In the end, you have to look at the cost of the car

At the right price maybe, but that's not close to the right price.

Does Honda still warranty cars with salvage titles?

They never have. Salvage titles mean that the useful life of the car has been exceeded. You're on your own when you buy a car with a branded title and when Honda runs the vin they'll know it's been rebuilt and that the factory warranty has been voided.

I wouldn't buy it and I wouldn't suggest you do either.

If you're not paying cash, you'll be hard pressed to get a bank to finance a car with a salvage title.
