Go to another dealer and just tell them you would prefer a MT. Seems a few others have done it and gotten decent trade in values. You will loose a bit, but you seem really bothered by it.

You could try getting a ScanGauge to see why your mileage is so bad. Maybe it cruises normally and then gets really bad under certain conditions, or it's using WAY to much fuel at idle or something. A ScanGauge would help tell you that, and maybe convince Honda that something was wrong.

It sucks to buy something to help fix a problem that should be done for free, but the ScanGauge will work on all cars so you should have no problem selling it, or transferring it to a new car whenever you replace the Fit.

Wow. Less than 180 miles per tank? That sucks.

We got ~3/4 tank of fuel from the dealer. We're at ~1/4 tank now and we're already over 190 on all city (LA) driving.

We really should have filled it up to test our first full tank range, but oh well.

I just picked up my Fit Sport AT last week. Currently on my 3rd tank averaging 32mpg (almost 33) on the first 2 tanks. Thats with driving 75-80mph on the highway on the way to work, and having the ac on for the trip home in the evenings. about 74 miles one way, about 50 miles are highway and about 15 are some decent size hills/mountains. The rest are city.

I've had my AT Sport since Feb and I am averaging between 32 and 33 MPG. That pretty much 65/35 mix of city/highway and I don't drive very aggressive, but I'm not babying the car either. I'm happy with my MPG. I guess I was fortunate.

Try coming to my dealership, Penske Honda in Ontario. I see you're close by. We have a pretty nice service bay, maybe we can check it out and see what's wrong.

poor mileage off of your A/T fit?

well, so much for A/C + A/T on yours.

I've been lucky with my fit so far (M/T, got 5800kms on the odo so far): on highway with 40% approx. A/C on and staying steady on 70miles/hr, I can get 5.6L/100kms (42.24miles/gal US). In the city with 90% short trips, with 20% A/C on (our limit is 50kms/hr or 60kms/hr), I get an average of 36.6miles/gal, with worse case scenario of 33miles/gal US once or twice so far.

Oh and BTW: I'm a light-footer when accelerating, using 87octane gas typically (won't bother with anything higher than that), with stock Dunlop 175/65R14 tires (not sports version) to 32psi cold (x4).

Yes, Fit does work out to my expectations.

I do, but I'm not in canada, I'm in the process of reporting to Honda my mileage being just as bad as the topic starter's claim.

I got the lowest MPG at 15, with 158miles to the tank at 10.2 gallons.

I just don't see how you can get 15-18mpg.

Does the car run correctly? No shuddering under acceleration? Have you checked to be sure the air intake is connected and no loose connectors? Any odd noises from the car at idle or when accelerating? Did you check the gap on the spark plugs? Check the airbox/filter?

To get anywhere near 150-200 miles per 10 gallons you need to be doing allot of heavy traffic sitting still or have a major malfunction in the car.

I avoid flooring it from a stop, but by no means baby my cars. I got 283 miles to 9.104 (31.08 mpg) gallons on my first tank, 307.6 to 9.857 (31.21 mpg), and 248.6 to 7.502 (33.14 mpg) so far. I will need to fill up again this evening, but should be at or over the 300 mile mark this time too.

For my commute I drive 73 miles (1.5 hours) to and from work (146 miles a day).

The one way trip is 61.5 highway miles. I hit 2 choke points of traffic each day on the highway then the other 11.5 miles involve traffic and stoplights. I have to travel about 15 miles of steep hills/mountains.

The highway miles are at 75-85mph and the AC is on when its hot out.

Wow! My 25 mpg looks good now! I only get about 200 miles per tank. I'll have my dealer take a look when I get my oil changed. I'm at 30% now.
