Yet another joins the ranks
After a little over two years with my 95 GS-R, it's time to get Fit. The GS-R was showing it's age, starting to shed the clear coat on top and having unforseen repairs for the first time ever. It was time to let it go. Combined with that, I just moved to the DC area and commute about 13 miles each way with a lot of stopping.
My girlfriend and I had been talking about selling both our cars and going down to one to save on insurance and get something newer, and we wanted something small with good fuel economy and lots of cargo space - the Fit made the most sense. So we were fortunate enough to have a 2007 Vivid Blue (not my top color choice) Sport AT (I drive mantran but we wanted something to make the traffic here more acceptable) come into a dealership near my old town before my GF left to join me in DC. She'll be driving it 700 miles tomorrow - a nice way to get to know it!
I'm sure you'll be seeing me around here talking about our mutual obsession.

g, old lady of 44 wanting the typical old lady mods, well except for maybe the OEM interior underdash lighting package, which I think is cool, but my husband insists is tacky
PS I wonder if I should start an "older Fit owners" topic

PPS My sister-in-law's basic MT Jazz came with LED tail lights, and I'm a bit jealous
My must-have accessories are the rear bumper applique (installed), door sills (JDM - ordered and on the way), cargo cover (will pick up next weeK), window visors (still deciding between Honda JDM OEM and Mugen), passenger window visor with mirror (hoping the brother-in-law can get one from a car wreckers in Australia - their driver's side is our passenger side and has the mirror) and the OEM armrest from I'm not sure where yet, but I will get one.

. . . I'll have you know that I am extremely silly for my age! I also have a 10 month old son, so that should keep me young for a while.
But I certainly am not part of the huge under-30 group on this forum. I don't post in txtmsgese, I regularly use capitalization and punctuation, and don't use "bro", or "sick" (as a compliment).
If I had not looked at US Honda's web site earlier this year, I would not even know that the Fit was available in the US market. I am obviously not their target consumer! The only television I watch that features a lot of car (and car stuff) ads is Formula One practice/qualifying/races on Speed. Acura sponsors the pre-race show, and Mazda and Toyota seem to show a lot of ads.
If Honda is buying any advertising there (that is, apart from their F1 team with Rubens, who I quite like, and Jenson Butthead, who I do not, and the fabulous mighty-mites Super Aguri Honda aka Super Happy Best Friends) it must not be for anything I would consider buying.
(Now that I've had time to think about it, I think they might run ads for the Element, or CR-V or Odyssey during the F1 telecasts.)
I'll join the chorus of those thinking that, by offering a version with just a bit more luxury (as in an arm rest), Honda could easily sell the Fit far beyond their current student/entry level buyer target market. Of course, I'll grouse again about how we should have had the option of a Civic Wagon/Hatch and repeat that Honda almost lost a 20 year/3 (now 4) new vehicle customer over "the five door thing".

We over-40 Fitters need to use the larger fonts, don't you think? I'm 46 and my eyesight is beginning to show its age. Good thing I got the Vivid Blue, since I can find it even though I can't see much.
(What kind of car did Mr. Magoo drive?)
Love my Fit, yes I do. I have had nicer cars and faster cars, but never a car I enjoyed driving this much. Got mine in March, now it has 18,000 miles on it. I am truly enjoying it, in my old age!
P.S. Golly, my Mom was 43 when I was born, too, and that was even less common in 1961! And thanks for all the spelling and punctuation, and the lack of l3375P34k. I love these enthusiastic young guys and gals, though, ya know?

I think I am more excited about this car than I was about any of my Accords, even the first one! It is the most agile car I have ever driven, and I find that great fun.
PS My grandmother gave birth to my Aunt Barb in 1934. Then in 1936 my dad arrived. Then nineteen years later, in 1955, when my grandmother was 43 (yes!) my Aunt Becky decided to surprise them. Becky has a nephew that is older than she is.
When I found out our little one was on the way (my husband and I met when I was 38 and he was 35, and married when I was 40 and he was 38 - first time either of us had been married, or even engaged, or even lived with someone else!) I told my dad by saying, "Remember what happened to Anna [my grandmother] when she was 43?" The reply was a quick, "S***, you're pregnant!"
I'm an only child and they adore their first grandchild, even if he did arrive when they were 70.Last edited by golly; Sep 14, 2007 at 09:27 PM.
