How old are you? (for everyone)
I kinda missed this post too
I'm 39 and am REALLY considering a Fit.
Vehicle history? I'm not 100% on the years, but should be close enough for gov't work...

1986-1988: '73 Mercury Capri (german built, 2.0L, 4 spd, ~$550)
1988-1991: '81 Chevrolet Caprice Classic (gold, smallest V8 offered, ~$1000)
1991-1997: '91 Ford Escort LX (white, 5dr, first NEW car, ~$14K?)
1991-1996: '80 Kawasaki 650 CSR (650cc motorcycle, ~$950)
1995-2004: '95 Nissan Altima (black, 2.5L 4cyl, NEW car for wife, ~$17K)
1998-now: '98 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (white, 3.8L supercharged V6, NEW for me, ~$26K + $15K in mods)
2004-2008: '95 GMC Sierra 1500 (white, 5.0L 305 V8, for occassional truck duties, ~$3500)
2005-now: '04 Mazda6 (4dr 3.0L V6, NEW for wife, ~$22K (listed at $26K)
2005-2008: '99 Honda CBR600 F4 (600cc motorcycle, ~$3500 + $1K in mods)
2006-now: '01 Suzuki DRZ-400E (400cc dual sport motorcycle, now supermotarded, ~$3500)
2006-2008: '06 GM Sierra 1500 (Red, 5.7L V8 extended cab, NEW, ~$23K ($29K list + $4K in mods)
2007-now: '07 Honda CBR600RR (600cc super sport motorcycle, NEW, ~$8500)
JUST sold the 2 trucks last week... got the GTP back on the road (street legal again!) just yesterday. It's damn fun, but a road course prepped car kinda sucks on the street. I also have the 2 most recent bikes and the wifes '04 Mazda6.

I'm 35 currently, and a longtime Honda lover. The FiT is the first new car I have ever purchased. Ownership history...
1989-1991 - 1972 Buick LeSabre - Crappy car, but you have to love your first.
1991-1993 - 1982 Chevy Corsica - I will NEVER own an American car again.
1993-1996 - 1985 Nissan Sentra - Blah car at best. Got me from A to B I guess.
1996-2001 - Good pair of boots and bummed a lot of rides. This period of my life SUCKED.
2001-2003 - 1991 Honda Civic Hatchback. The careless kid who plowed into my rear bumper should be forced to work at a sewage treatment plant for a year as punishment for killing this car.
2003-2005 - 1992 Honda Civic Hatchback. Car died as far as I was concerned, though I did sell it to someone for $500, and he got it running again after about a 3 grand investment.
2005-2007 - Working in DC, used Metro mostly, borrowed a friends car frequently worked out well.
2007-Current - 2008 Honda Fit. Perfect.

My fit is on order and should arrive in 8 weeks. I picked the simple one - base manual Red. Will add some things but it will be for everyday chores.

Since I used to race motorcycles for a living, I will not include those I picked up along the way - lots of fun ones from a flat track harley 750 to CZ and BSA gold stars.
Considering I lived in a commune in Colorado for 24 years, I now find it insane I owne so many and am considering selling some to clear out the garage (and insurance fees) to make room for the Fit.
You are never too old to be young.
