Extended warranty ???

OK, my first post:
Picking up my 2008 Sport Fit/AT with mud guards on 9/25/07 ( Morris County,NJ--7% tax ) Out-the-door price was $17,550.00.

When would you suggest that I should purchase an extended warranty ?
( now, before 3 years/36,000, after I total the car, or BEFORE 6,000 miles as one Honda affiliated company said )

Which are the most reliable companies ?

I know nothing...what should I be thinking...if I think at all.

Thanx

First off, congtraz on the 08 Fit!!! And welcome to FitFreak!

Idk if you have ever owned a Honda before but they are super reliable, and some of the best running cars..Also, the Fit is made 100% in Japan meaning it has the BEST build quality out there. When i bought my Fit i didnt even think about extended warrenty and think its kinda a waste of money for the Fit..I have a 96 Teg aswell with over 100k on it and its running like new and not a problem yet soo i think the Fit will run through 200k no prob...as long as you dont have a lemon Fit lol! Good luck dude!

If you decide to buy one, don't pay full price!!! College Hills Honda Honda Care Warranty - Extended Service Contract has prices that are probably better than your dealers. Unless you live in Florida you can buy a Honda warranty from any dealer in the country. If you live in Florida, you must purchase if from a dealer in Florida, not necessarily where you bought the car.

Cool, I pick my 08 up today too (5 hours to be exact)

I'm sure the Fit, like all Honda's are reliable, but here's a story: We bought my wife a 2003 CRV EX, were talked into buying the warranty and thought it was probably a waste of money. This summer (4 years later) the a/c blows. (I forget what they call it, but it was from the inside out.) We have the 7 years/ 100K miles warranty, so the a/c was completly covered. Out of pocket, it would have cost us over $1900.

Now, Fits aren't CRVs but something to think about.

Good to hear about College Hills, 'cause if my dealer can't go cheap, we'll buy it from them.

all i can really add is that i was pretty much coerced by my dealer into getting the extended warranty, but i probably would have gotten it anyways. you can never be too safe IMO.

definitely check out the college hills link, they do have some of the best prices from what i'd seen. i of course went through the dealer and overpaid, but at that time i didn't know you could buy the warranty outside the dealer!!!

Yeah I wonder if buying it outside the dealer is a relatively new thing, it must be.

Wow, did not know that. I guess not knowing is how the dealers can make more money on 'em though. Worked on me.

I would not buy one at all. They are a great money maker for the dealers.

If I buy an extended warranty, it probably will not be with my dealer.....maybe a Honda affilated outfit, maybe not. There seems to be several choices...I won't be stressing about it yet.

You can buy an extended warranty from ANY dealer...just stick with a "Honda Care" plan. Everyone mentions "College Hill", but they're not always the lowest price. Just Google "Honda Care" & browse the choices.
