Rear Windows (Only half down)

Question: The Fit (08) is the only vehicle I have ever owned where the rear windows are set to only go down half way, Is there a way to change/re-set this? (I checked the manual and there is nothing. Also coudln't find a thread on the topic)

I understand the safety and blah blah, but my monkey can still crawl out if the window if it is half down (or worse start chunking stuff out) so all the way makes no difference.

Thanks for your time.

I think it's because the rear speakers are located in the door, so there is no room for the glass to go down further without hitting the speaker.

^ really? i always thought it was just like that for safety. so kids in the back don't go spilling out the windows onto the freeway.

haha. I think it's cuz there is no space. Check out how the door curves near the wheel well, the window has nowhere 2 go. that's why.

Strange, every car I've owned except for my Pathfinder had windows that only rolled down halfway. I always assumed it was because of the way the rear doors are shaped due to the wheel wells.

Simian Restraint

Also, your rear doors, like those on all Hondas of the last 25 years or so, have "Monkey Lock", the little switch beside the door latch that keeps your monkey from opening the back door to throw feces when you want him to stay inside. If all else fails, your Fit also has the LATCH system, which stands for Lower Anchors and Tethers for CHimpanzees. Best I can tell, that's where you attach his HANS device.

Pretty sure its a child/monkey safety thing. If the window was all the way down its like an invite for children to climb up and hang outside the window. With it slightly upward the child notices its more work to do so.

Even crank down rear windows stop half way. Then again, some cars dont stop half way. Lots of domestics. Its more imports that have the safety thing.

At least thats my guess.

I like the feature. Anytime my windows are down I match my front ones with my rear ones. Looks sleek with the glass flowing together. Anyone notice that in my pics? No......

But in all seriousness, it's just because there's no room in the door on this car. The safety aspect, well, that's what the driver's switch to lock-out the other window switches is for.
I think.

Even cars with HUGE doors stop the windows half way....
I think our windows can full retract into the door. Its big enough.

This shall be a mystery.

Every car I have been in has only had the back windows going down half way. Only things I have seen with windows going all the way down are 4 door trucks and SUVs...I think its a room issue, not a safety issue.

The door is curved because of the wheel well, the window is not curved. Its simple.

I don't roll my back windows down at all, as soon as I do the whole car starts...resonating I guess would be the best term, the whole interior starts shaking like I've got an ungodly set of subs in the back. One window or both, it's just wicked loud.

It only does that if the front ones arent down at all or enough. Ive driven with all my windows down on the highway at 70mph with normal wind noise.
I know the noise that youre talking about. I only get it with the rear windows down only.

Chopper

Ah, yes, the dreaded Helicopter Noise. There has been some discussion of this phenomenon, it even has a name. It's named after the cousin of the guy who dislodges food from your windpipe. Search "helicopter" on here and you'll find it.

Ah, here we go:

As of today I have borrowed this idea from you. I am hear to (semi)publicly give you credit. It does look slick.

The only other two Hondas I've owned the rear windows did go down all the way (CRV) or it did not have rear windows (del Sol).

It is the rear seat belt vibrating from the wind. It can be deafening.
