Noticed something about the rear headrests...

I noticed that there's a hole in each and that the headrest pillars (the metal poles that slide into the seat) fit into them perfectly. Not only that, but also that the holes are corresponding to the pillar. This is what I mean

| = headrest pillar o = hole in opposite headrest

|o
o|

So one pillar on each headrest fit in the corresponding holes at the same time. Kinda make an S shape with the headrests.

Anyone know what those holes are for?

I've seen those holes as well I just figured they were to allow air to escape when they are compressed.

maybe for storage, since no one really keeps them back there since they screw up your rear viewing? they might have done this on purpose with that in mind.

Hmm. I actually removed the rear seat headrests the day I bought the car because you can't fold the seats down all the way with them in. I don't even know where they went.

What do you mean you can't fold them down all the way? Dude, just roll your seats forward with the latch thingy on the side or your seats. Put your seat down with the headrests in and then use the latch on your front seats to pull the seat back as desired. THE HEADRESTS GO UNDERNEATH THE FRONT SEATS IN UTILITY MODE.

WRONG! See page 90 of your handy-dandy owners manual.

don't the headrests protect the rear passengers from whiplash from a accident too?

Ah so they do, go Honda. I keep the headrests in the cargo net pocket anyway, since you still can't see out the back when they are in place.

I wonder if the '09 Fit rear seat with the hide-away headrests will fit in the 07-08s hmm.

Yes that's why I keep them on, or in the trunk.

I removed my headrest the day I picked up my car. First thing I did before driving away. The people that watched me drive away said "Wow, looks a lot nicer without them there."

I now have EM1 headrests. They have holes in the center and look more sporty.

Too much work. It was alot easier to just pull them out and throw them in my house.

Hummmph! It took more time to check this site for new posts today, than it took to flip my back seats down this morning.

Not great ones....

I love them. Give the interior a sporty look. Fronts go in just fine. The rears are really snug and need to be shoved in. Em1/Em2 2 door headrest only.
I got mine for free. I traded my OEMs with Civics are my friends body shop.

This was when I just put them in. Only had the fronts.
