BMW visit

I have to tell you guys what happen today. My boss test drove a BMW x3 and forgot to give the salesman back the key! This is very like him - he walks off with things all the time. So he comes into my office today and ask me to mail this bulky envelop to the local BMW dealership. I ask what is this - he tells me the key to a vehicle he test drove. Advised him that we can not put this in the mail and I live very near to the dealership so I will just drop it off on my way home tonight. He said that would be great. Anyway, I pull up to the BMW dealership and these three young guys in their BMW sweaters were sitting around a desk. I pull up at this big glass window and they all turn their heads to look. You know the expression, "What the heck is that?" I get out of the car and go over to the BMW portion of the dealership. I ask for the salesman by name(he was one of the young guys at the desk) and let him know that my boss had asked me to return this. He thanked me and I turned around to leave. As I get back inside of my Fit they are all standing up facing my car. One of the guys is leaning up against the glass at this point looking at the front of my car. I read his lips when he said, "It's a Honda". I look over and all three of these young salesman are just staring at my car - I look at them and give them the thumb up!!!! LOL!!!

They just smiled as I drove away. I just had to laugh! I took the car to the car show on Sunday so it was looking sweet even though it has rained all day. I have to admit it looked really nice sitting outside of the dealership in all its glory! Meow!

that's a funny story but it makes me sad in a way.

if i were a car salesman i would know what other cars are out on the market. actually i'm not even a salesman and i know. this just strengthens my concern that they really don't know anything about cars or what they're trying to sell us. i went to a subaru dealer last year to help my mom find a car and was told that the legacy 2.5GT was a 6cylinder by the salesman. then he blasted rap music so my mom could get a feel of the bump in the stereo and started talking about racing and the manual drive mode. like my mom even cares about that stuff..i guess that last part is just bad selling strategy. but he really didn't know anything about the car either

It annoys me when i go to the dealer and i know more about what im looking to buy than they do. When they dont know if its FWD or RWD you KNOW they don't deserve a job as a salesman.

I'm glad all the sales people I've met so far know their cars... (except the fit, I knew more about it)

in a way, I didn't blame them, the sales person himself said he didn't get a chance to test drive a Honda Fit, cause they all are being presold and when they get in stock, he only gets to see them, the car I got, was used, and I bought the test driven car (which was used for a few hundred miles).

But the neat thing about the Honda Dealership I go to, BMW is right next to it, the people that own the Honda dealership own the BMW dealership, my Financing is with BMW Motors... even though I have a fit.

All salesmen arent the same..Some know what they are talking about, and some just plain dont!

A salesmen at the Honda dealership where i bought my car is awesome! He knows everything about the aftermarket seen for the Fit, and we talked for an hour while i was getting my oil chaged about what i should do with my Fit! Unfortunatly i didnt buy the Fit from him because when i bought my car he wasnt there that day, be my next Honda will be bought from him!

That reminds me...

The other day I was driving and I saw this sweet new orange Lotus Elise pulling behind me and then to my side. Of course I look at it! Who wouldn't? But to my surprise, by the time I turned to the Elise, the guy in the Elise was looking at my car. I'm 2 lanes to the left of him and I didn't do anything show-off-ish, so why was an Elise driver looking at my car? It made my day.

Glad you Fit impressed the Beemer boys!!!
I love walking into a dealership to look at cars and waiting for a salesman to come up to me and try come off as him knowing everything and me being a stupid chick. As soon as I start asking him questions about kw power and power to weight ratio, you see their expressions change and suddenly they are all nervous around you. I once went to go check out a second hand Ford Focus for a friend of mine, so I practically marched into the Toyota dealership and went straight up to the car. Naturally 0.2 seconds later a salesman popped up out of nowhere and then I let him have it. I asked him about service history and the condition of the tyres, the car's life story. Then I went around the car and started to check all the gaps between the panels to see if the car had been in an accident. Of course I found quite a huge gap at the back by the hatch glass and the back of the car. So I asked him if this car had been in an accident and he said "not that I know of". At this stage it looked like he was sweating bullets!! So I showed him the gap and he couldnt explain it. Needless to say my friend didnt buy the car.

That is great! I can't stand it when the guys at Auto Zone always total up my order and then ask me "Is this yours" when I purchase a copy of Siphon or Honda Tuner - LOL! My salesman admitted that I knew more about the car than he did - but he was open to learning. I can't wait to take it back to the dealership for my first oil change so they can see the changes I've made on it.

Funny that the BMW dealer salesmen didnt know what the Fit was.

I also got a stare at my car. When I was at the local Honda dealer and first time when planning to buy the Jazz I started slow with the salesman just to let him tell me what the bips and bobs on the car was and all its good stuff. The typical "salesmans speach", and up to now I had made the impression of me that I didn't know much about the car. But then I switched gear and asked about more details to see how much he actually did know about the car
Not much actually, but then again, I had done a pretty thorough research before the visit. Like reading on this forum about the trouble that had been on this car.

Another fun story with my car is that the same day that the car was made ready for me to pick it up, it was on display in the Honda shop and a customer that visit the shop to pick up his new 2007 model Honda Civic discovered my Black Amethyst Pearl Jazz with all the styling on and he just wanted that car instead
So he then got his new Civic returned and got an order off a Jazz insted. He ordered a pretty strange color: Chiffon Green Metallic. It looks like the car is going to glow in the dark. And he did not put on a sports trim either...

Last time I was at the Honda dealer to get them to change to winter tires on my car (they had my winter tires in the tire hotel), the technician told me he was the one that had mounted the sports styling and added the fog-lights on my car and made the car ready for me. He had also fallen in love with the car, and he had then put an order for himself on the second BAP car that was due to arrive in to the country in october. But that one was not arriving, so now he is cheching out if and when the new Blackberry Pearl color is coming in to Norway. He said he definitive would have the sports styling like I have.
