New Gen vs. Old Gen Fit: Gas Mileage?
New Gen vs. Old Gen Fit: Gas Mileage?
Is there any information out there on gas mileage in the next-gen Fit vs. the current gen Fit? For me, I would probably rather have an '08 Fit if it gets better gas mileage, even if the '09 Fits have a few more features. I have heard that power was going to increase slightly. From what I've been reading, the real-world mpg of the xD has been better than the Fit so far, so I hope the next-gen Fits will get better gas mileage rather than worse mpg.
Comparing the old and new JDM Fits, the mileage for the new Fit is the same or slightly less than the prior model, but the trade-off is about 9hp more power. USDM should be similar. As for whether to buy '08 or '09, the mpg difference really is negligable, so I would go more based on how soon you need the car, or whether you want the higher output/features of the '09 and don't mind waiting.

Thanks for the info on the new-gen Fit mpg.
I was looking at the bigger and heavier Nissan Versa today and saw that with a 1.6 liter 122hp engine, the CVT Versa gets the same city/hwy mileage as the automatic Fit Sport.
Am I wrong to assume that if we see a CVT Fit in the U.S. next year with the new i-VTEC engine thingy, it could at least retain the same mileage that the Fit Sport 5-speed automatics being sold right now?

Theoretically that should be the case, but unfortunately more features=more weight. Mazda seem to be the only ones who can figure this out - the new Miata weighs the same or less than the old one!Eventually, a Mini Cooper, although it wont' grow in dimensions in size necessarily, will be made out of lead and will weigh 10,000 lbs.
Thanks for the info on the new-gen Fit mpg.

Ah! This is great news. Glad Honda isn't shovelling the same bloatware as other companies! There is hope for a new-gen for me yet...
1. 2008 honda Fit get about 46 to 48 city and 54 to 56 highway, it has 119hp, the body is a little longer then then the 2007, the tire on the 2008 is bigger then the 2007. But when it all come down the 2008 is GOD DAMN UGLY.
An already great car gets a redesign with are more rigid chassis, improved steering (from a car that is already known to have great handling), higher quality interior materials, upper glove compartment thingyt, a newer engine and some other shit I don't don't know right now.
But yet "when it all comes down," it's the looks that matter? Oh well, luckily for me it doesn't and I happen to like how the new Fit looks than the older one. It's less mini van-ish looking to me =P

I love the way my 2007 fit look now and what it will look in the next 3year. Picture and spc. of the new 2008 fit make me wander if Honda still got what it take make people love there car.
Also the 2008 interior is almost same as the 2007, just the engine (9 to 11hp gain) and body change.
