Dumb question really. What is the quickest way to launch the car for auto? Rev it in nuetral, then slam it into gear? Well I'll admit ive done it a couple of times, and when i do, i hear and feel a hard BANG under my feet. Cant be good right?

 

neutral drops will kill your transmission.

you can torquebrake (put it in gear, step on your brake, step on your gas
to approx 2500rpm and hold for a few seconds) to launch. regardless,
i dont recommend you drag race your car.

 

I would stongly recommend not to nuetral drop man, as kenchan said it will kill your little transmission.
You could do the torquebrake thing, but the Fits not a fast car so it wont make a world of diffrence. Just step on the gas is my suggestion.

dude... DO NOT nutral drop!!!! ur tranny will fall out of your car!, well mayb not but it is very very bad!!!!! that is like shifting a MT with no clutch!!!!!!!! do the tourque break thing or just gas... you only have 109hp.... your nto gonna go fast

 

Any time you hear a loud bang on a car will never be good..as far as answering your question just torque break and put your gear in S. Screw the little paddle shifters xD

 

Listen here John Force, your fit is not a drag car...infact, your car has less power then 90% of other cars on the road...i suggest not slamming your tranny if you'd like to continue driving in for the next couple months...i can't believe people think N drops will help you perform better...what were you trying to out launch? Crosswalk pedestrians?

oh duh thats right...i thought everyones Fit had 600hp John Force i am not. Speeding ricer who thinks his car is the fastest thing on the road, i am not. BUT being since my car, as yours is poo-poo when it comes to power, id figure id ask if there is ANY help in this department when it comes to taking off. I've done it twice--to hell i go! its one of those things when you see a BIG RED BUTTON that says "DO NOT TOUCH" i had to try it....twice.

 

aye take it easy man, were just messing around. The point is probably the safest way to launch is through torque breaking and thats about it. Our cars being auto...we werent really meant to launch in the first place.

 

If you want to go fast from a stop, DO not get a Fit lol, get a Si or better yet a BMW 135i!

Remember that an automatic transmission is not the same as a manual. Automatics use a planetary transmission, while MT uses a gearbox. a gearbox is a very simple, therefore durable, machine.

In a Fit, dumping the clutch at high revs with a MT will make you a pedestrian just as easily as what the OP "used" to do. Unless the transmission and clutch are built for the abuse of racing, abuse will break things very quickly. In a FWD car without enough guts to even chirp the drive tire, what's the point with either transmission?

 

I disagree...I made a tight left hand turn up a steep wet hill and I know I heard a chirp

that was a another question i had. I know N drops are BAD for an AT. But in theory, is dumping the clutch on MT just as bad? (Maybe not for the tranny, but the clutch in question)

 

Your car was not made for drag racing. A B U S I N G any part of the drive train will cause premature wear and early failure. You don't want your alias to be gn-it&RUIN-it (do you?).
