New Owner questions

Hi,
New owner here-bought my Fit earlier tonight. Well soon to be new owner as they didn't have the color I wanted so it will be Friday or maybe even tomorrow before I actually get it.

Here is something I am wondering about: Any of you live on steep hills?. I bought the sport model and noticed it has a fairly low spoiler on the front. My driveway is very steep and concerned about bottoming out when going from driveway to street or vise versa. My current ride is a truck so it not an issue, but I have seen a friend's Crown vic scrap the front when driving from the house to the street.

Thanks!

My school parking lot is very steep entrance and rub everytime exiting it, its front has a thing that takes all the drags so it doesnt f up your lip. With lowering springs on there way im in for alot more rubbing..

I used to scrape fora while too, i figured if you do what people who are lowered do which is take it in an angle very slow no matter how steep the curb/hill it should be able to clear no problem

I think your hill would have to be really steep in order to scrape the lip on your Fit. (If it's on stock springs) Crown Vics and most full size cars scrape everywhere since there is more bumper in front of the front wheels....the wheels are a bit further back from the front edge of the car.

I know since I drive a civic hatchback on stock springs and never scrape...where as my stock Prelude with the longer nose and lip kit will scrape. I scraped it the first night I got it and had to get it repainted...hasnt scraped since.

lol its kinda funny actually cause in the Owner's Manual it actually warns you about steep hills and driveways as it can damage your front lip. First Manual I have ever seen them suggest an angled entry/exit from steep driveways.

Totally forgot about preludes as that is what my mom drives. But I can't recall being outside when she drove up so I will have to ask her. But hers is a stock 01 or 00, no modifications...

I'll just be as slow as I can the first couple of times and see what happens.
Not only is my driveway steep, but the part that goes from the driveway to the garage is yet another incline. The lady next door says previous owners did scrape on that part. The fit seems to be a pretty short wheelbase so hopefully this won't be an issue.

Well they called last night and said my car was in and ready for pickup today.
So went over there during a bad storm no doubt and picked her up. Drove her straight back to town and went through all the DMV stuff so I wouldn't have that hanging over my shoulder next week (and even did the insurance tranfer on the phone while waiting at DMV). Anyway, I have only tried it a few times SLOWLY but no problem with my driveway so I am good to go!

Doing all this new car stuff left me with little time for testing her, but I have noticed 2 things so far:

1) Car is NOT slow. On another forum I had got the impression that I *might* be disappointed with power. No..in fact it was better than expected. I don't have any miles yet so I don't want to tach her up, but I can already tell the car will go with rpm.

2) Just say no to traffic jams!!!- Man this thing is almost as good as my bike (ninja) in getting through traffic jams. I was almost home when Friday afternoon traffic had cars backed up for MILES! I was able to cut a super tight corner and take a tiny side street that got me home in a few minutes rather than another hour.

Anyway..I will get to play more tommorow..in the mean time I am going out to look for some cheap floormats. I will probably buy the honda all weather mats but I need something now till they arrive. Who is good source to buy honda parts online? I used to know when I had a crv but that was back in 2000 and memory not so good anymore

What a blast!@!

Thanks I checked them out. Only thing Is I noticed the instructions looked a bit complicated for floor mats. I mean you have to cut your carpet to install? I guess that is where Honda cuts corners a bit to save money on hooks. But do you really need those hooks?

Defintely ANGLE the car in streets with sharp elevation changes.

I scrappped the Fit the second time I drove up my driveway. Now I angle it on the sharp part with no problems.

I have a 98 prelude on TEIN Coilovers with about 1.7 inch drop right now, the only thing that scraps for me is my exhaust, but other than that, I take bumps slow and at an angle.

Fit's should not scrape if you go at an angle.

Easy install. Most of the cut is already there, they just left a little uncut for those who don't get the factory mats. Back is the same but I didnt bother with the hold downs in rear as the back floor mat fits in tight and I dont see it moving.
