Acura Fit

So for those in countries with the Acura brand.... would you have considered an Acura-branded Fit fit up-market interior, etc?

not really. i prefer the Honda badge on this car. if they can include
better looking sport seats, etc. that would be kinda nice.

YES! I would be intrested if Acura made a more performance luxury type Fit, of course it would have a diffrent name and look diffrent and probaly better, i would be all over that. It would probaly be only like 24k starting too, the cheapest acura they would make. Make one Acura, make one!

Eh I'd look at one but probably not buy it. I bought the Fit because if its price point/mpg combo.

All that aside I dont think the Acura brand will ever have a car thats a luxo version of the Fit. This is the same reason you dont see a Lexus version of the Yaris. It is also part of the reason the RSX is gone, its because the price of the Civic was creeping up to it, along with performance. An Acura version of the Fit will cheapen the brand image.

yeah i agree. i think acura stopped sales of the rsx in the US so that it's image would become associated more with luxury. picking up the fit would be a step backwards from that.

Rotflmao....

No offense meant ...but I thought you posted this as a joke!
if so...it was good

If not...don't you think that would be rather counterintuitive?

Acura-upmarket
Fit-not so much...

Acura-more _____ over function...
Fit- far more function over _____....

Acura-more status minded...
Fit-more utilitarian minded...

I would also think that within a company you dont want vehicles that look down on other vehicles in the line up...I would think you would want vehicles would compliment or show different levels within the MK.

I would like to see a luxury sub compact car (I <3 MINI) from Acura but not using the Fit badge. The Fit is associated as being the entry level Honda so it should be at least renamed or something. Maybe have it start at $23k since the TSX starts at $28k. I really like the idea of something like that happening but I'm guessing that wouldn't fly here in America. A small car has to either be one of those sporty sports car or a cheap ass econocar...or a MINI.

Wait, you're asking if I would buy an Acura Fit? Hell no!

I think a Acura version of the Fit would do suprisingly well here in the US. With gas prices creeping up and people wanting to go green and not want to spend alot at the pump. Plus people want something cheap to own, but they dont want a Econobox(Fit), they want luxury. Leather, Nav, power seats, all the bells and whistles on a Fit Chassis with a bit more power and the same or better MPG for 23-24k starting. Im sure it would take off. You would see alot of rich teenagers driving them lol! They would have no competion, yeah the Mini but the Mini is really small and not practical. Plus its built really cheap. Go shut a mini's door and come back to me if you disagree!

In Canada the entry lvl Acura is the CSX and because of where Acura now wants to be positioned in the industry I don't expect to ever see something "cheaper" in their lineup.

I totally see what your sayin... and probably to some degree true...
But I think (especially from what I have seen, and some more well to do cohorts of mine) they would and have just gone for the Echo type hybrid or electric vehicles...
Maybe not across the board...but it makes sense...and its a bit responsible too.

Ahh, you need to get out of the country more often! There's a long tradition of very nice compact cars in other countries. Hell, look at the Audi A3, which is an upmarket version of the Golf/GTI. Also, the Mercedes A-Class is a rather nifty little vehicle as well.

At some point, the US will realize that small cars can be luxury cars as well.

I'd definitely consider one and I think/hope the American market is slowly warming to this idea (Mini, Audi A3, BMW 1-series). That said, I don't see it happening with the Fit. Although Honda sells both the CRV and the nearly same-sized Acura RDX, the SUV market has been red hot and the subcompact market surely isn't there yet.

There's no logical reason that you can't have a small, high mpg car that has luxury features, too, except for the American expectation that small equals cheap and its corrolary: more $ should buy you a bigger vehicle. So you get arguments that you can't add luxury features to the Fit or it will encroach on the Civic or whatever other model. For me, if I want a subcompact car with the superb functionality of the Fit, and the options I want push the price close to a bigger vehicle, that doesn't suddenly make me want the bigger vehicle. But unfortunately too many think that bigger is better, so the bigger car gives you "more" for your money. For now it seems only the European companies are offering small cars with slightly upscale appointments.

OOOHHH I GETCHA and I am right there with ya...I am only speaking through the eyes (eww..hahaaa) of the heavily flaunted general USDM idea...

Sorry I didnt make that clear...mybad...

I think the idea of compact luxury vehicles is actually quite brilliant...
and effective...especially when tooled with more efficient ideals...

And yes indeed I do need to get out of this country (esp...more often)...but probably not for those reasons...heeeeheee

So true. There's actually a long tradition of nice compact cars in the Fit's home country as well. It's part of the reason the Fit does so well here -- people are somewhat amazed (and excited) that a small, inexpensive car can have such depth and quality when the usual image in their heads of small cars has been the typical econo $hitbox the US has come to know over the years. In the JDM home market where small cars are the norm, no one thinks twice about having features like auto-climate control, back-up cameras, full navi systems, HID's, etc. on a small car.

Having said that though, I would never buy an Acura Fit simply because I'm not into luxury cars or features; they're a waste of money that could be put into performance features instead.

im with others with this also. it would definitely nice to have the nicer bells and whistles of an acura, but with it being significantly more expensive, no thanks.

I think it would be a big waste of money. You can upscale the fit yourself as time and money permits getting only what you want/need. I did that with my toyota by buying the midgrade model and slowly adding the anti-tailgating mirror/compass, flairs, and alarm system along with a few other standard features of the "limited" model. And if you buy a used car you have no control over what features it has so the way you get around that is visit your local import junk yard.

A high quality, inexpensive car is smart thinking to me
