Anyone have a good picture of the undercarriage?
i needed a pic of the same thing not too long ago, what you do is go to the honda website and do the 360 degree mode to look at the car flip it around so you see the undercarriage then zoom in and take a screen shot or what ever it is if you need to save it that is what i did
does anyone else feel a little uneasy with knowing your sitting on the gas tank the cat and exhaust are like right there. thats alot of weight in front with a full tank of gas, but i do have to admit I did get awesome snow traction with cheap all seasons
The difference between the Fit and other contemporary cars is their tanks are under the rear seat. That difference of a couple feet forward isn't significant (except for making the rear seat "magic").
What you want to avoid happening is the tank bursting and spraying gasoline such that it vaporizes and is easy to ignite. The position in modern cars (under the rear or front seats) is as protected as it gets. Plus the tanks are a lot tougher. As a liquid, gasoline is pretty hard to burn and won't explode regardless of what you've seen in the movies. Mythbusters did a pretty good segment on trying to get a car gas tank to explode. Short of putting explosives in it they couldn't get more than a slow burn.
