Just remember that many things that are available to the Japanese market are not offered in the US.

hmmm and they seem to have ditched (possibly the rear middle headrest)
and the rear side headrests are more like the middle on our current Fits.
hmmmm....interesting.....

who knows what will make it out here though....

Not that crazy about the new body style. Reminds me of a Toyota Prius.

FYI - The current gen Fit is also offered in AWD....this market will never see it because of price point. North America will however get the equivalent to the JDM RS model which is a good thing.

Hmm...the outside doesn't look too bad, but I agree that it sort of reminds me of the Prius.

The interior, however...

Ehh...the main reason I went with the Fit over the Civic (which I also looked at when car shopping) was because I really don't like the Civic's dual-level overly angular interior. I see a lot of that in the new Fit, unfortunately. I know it's supposed to look "futuristic" or whatever but I've always kinda thought the Civic's interior and dash looked like it was designed by someone on ecstasy. At least all the gauges are in the same plane and they're all analog. (They are, aren't they?)

lol! Because everything looks stretched and weirdly proportioned in the civics, it seems more like someone on shrooms or some other hallucinogen would have been the designer.

You may want to check the current exchange rate you'll be happier

The bare minimum car (Fit G type FF) would be 1197000 (your figure is the pre-tax one) = $11105 USD. Given it comes with CVT and lots of stuffs standard it's still a great deal!

The Fit RS 5MT 2WD(5MT costs more than CVT, not like here in NA where most people won't/can't drive an MT) would cost 1.785mil yen = US$16561. That's about what we get here, right? Don't forget glass top roof, nav and HID costs extra.

I checked out the specs, (here's the link Honda | クルマ | フィット | スペック, in Japanese of course)
and here's what I found:

Gear Ratio: pretty much unchanged. Let's hope they know we want a taller 5th (or better yet a 6th) over here.
185/55R16 First: 3.461 2nd: 1.869 3rd: 1.303 4th: 1.054 5th 0.853 R:3.307
Final: 4.294

Fuel Tank: Same 42L one (11.1gallons) That means you'll still have to fill up every 350 miles or so

But is there a door lock button on the passenger side and telescoping steering wheel? That's the $64,000 question. I think I'd consider trading mine in

At least Japan wise it doesn't have a door lock button on their front passenger passenger side but maybe we could get it?

The telescoping steering wheel is offered and I think it's a standard on Fit RS which is reported to be the trim we're getting. Of course Honda could leave the telescoping steering wheel and the driver seat hight adjuster out completely for North America which I think wouldn't be a good decision. I assume compared to Japan we have the biggest range in height from the short Hmong lady to a tall umm......African American man so we would GREATLY (caps!) benefit from such features. I just hope whoever makes that decision at least considers that
