What percentage do you need to change the oil?
A light will turn on, on the dash indicating it's time for an oil change. And IIRC the oil life indicator will automatically change itself to the default screen instead of one of the trip odometers.
I don't trust it so I change the oil every 3000miles/3months.

I go 4500-5000mile intervals. I use 5w30 Mobil1 Syn and Purolator PureOne filter.
Honda says 15%, but I say 5,000 miles or 30%, which ever comes first. I got nagged by honda on the free oil change because I demanded oil change at 3,000 (50%) miles since it was free. Also, the dipstick reading was getting low so I didn't want to risk burning more oil.

Also, the first oil change is suppose to be at 500-600miles or so it says in the manual. From what service advisers told me, getting it changed before or after those miles can void warranties.
I say thats bull honky.
With Mobil-1 synthetic and changing the oil filter, you could easily go 8-10,000 miles between oil changes, unless you live in EXTREME weather conditions and/or compete in races.
Of course, the oil life indicator will be well below 0 % by that point. I fill with Mobil-1 sythetic and once the oil indicator drops to 30% I reset it to 100%, then change it when I get back to 30% again.

fit
i did mine at 4500. I went for my free one and the stupid b!+$H at the dealer told me to wait till 5000. So I told her that my light is already on at 15%, + if anything happen to my car if I wait for 5000 that she will pay for my car. They did it the same day.
im going to do mine 10% or less. its at 30% now, so probably late April.
i too get a first free oil change so thinking about taking it in the
first time.
those meters are like your fuel gauges. even if it says it needs
attention you still have quite a bit of margin left. no need to rush.

i change my oil and filter when 15% comes up. i use mobile 5w20. imo, i think some of you guys are going waaayyy overkill changing your oil every 3000 miles with extended life synthetic on a car that honda says doesnt need to be changed every 3000 miles. if you think about it, even my process is over doing it. but, its your money

also, i have about 27,000 miles right now and no oil loss.
btw, does anyone know how much a new drain bolt cost? not the washer.
With modern oils and engines changing your oil every 3000 miles is throwing money away.
I don't see why you wouldn't trust the oil life minder, seeing as if anything it's a conservative estimate. Honda wouldn't put a feature like that in their cars if it's going to cause people to ruin their engines.
The oil companies are the ones who recommend the 3000 mile change, by the way. Wonder why that could be....
