Pigeons Taking a Walk on the Wild Side

OK I have to park the Fit in a parking garage at work. It tooks months but I finally have staked out my space which is the perfect spot. There is a guy with a Volvo who parks on the end over the line because no other car can park beside him on that side - then the Fit and then another lady who owns a really nice Jetta. We are all friends and know that our cars are not going to be banged up during the day. Well, we have these two pigeons that started staying on the fourth floor and I came out yesterday and had pigeon tracks all over the top of my car! Yikes! I have threatened to purchase one of those plastic owls to stick on my antenna during the day to scare away the pigeons -;0) Does anyone have any other suggestions? I am bummed because it is the perfect spot but the birds are going to ruin the paint and scratch it up even more. One of the girls in my office has a really nice black Eclipse and they were sitting on her car one day too.

It is kinda of funny but not!!!! Ok yell it is funny

hmmmmmmm the bird seed idea is a pretty good one, but not sure how long that'll last. I guess you can always get a cover or something.

Funny that you mention pigeons! The past three days I've noticed a pigeon that likes to perch on the egde of my spoiler. He poops all over the right side of my rear windshield almost everytime I'm parked in my driveway! I swear he's doin it on purpose too but I do think its hella funny though!

Istayfitted we have the same problem! The first time I saw the pigeon on my Fit I just hit the panic button on the key fob and he took off right away. I kinda of think they may have a nesting area near where I park because one of the other employees said they were flying very low and over the heads of people getting into their cars one evening. I always carry microfiber clothes and instant detailer so I can get the poop off the car but gez - what a pain in the butt!

Not sure how much time you have in the parking garage before you need to go into work but maybe getting some sort of cover for the roof and putting it on might do the trick.

That photo is kinda creepy. What is going on there? What are all those things on the ground? I mean, I know what the pigeon is doing, but the ground looks like a giant spider-migration! Eeeewwww.

Hey, Cat, the owl might work. Especially if you can find a way to permanently mount it at the garage.

A real owl almost committed suicide on my car's windshield yesterday morning on the way to work...you could have had him!

Some buildings have spiky strips installed along the edges and peaks of their roofs, which make pigeons go away. Pigeons will only stand along the edge of the roof, they won't stay around if they have to walk on the roof without sitting at the edge.

At one shop where I used to work, we had a pigeon problem, and the maintenance guy put rubber snakes here and there in the rafters, but it didn't do any good. But there's something about the huge eyes of the fake owls that supposedly works. Whether it works on pigeons, crows, or what, I have no idea. You might have to get all the pigeons together for a class. "Listen, guys, this is an OWL, and he eats you pigeons. See these bigass eyes? He's watching you. Yes, you may be excused to go to the bathroom. HEY! That's my CAR!!!"

Not sure how good the fake owl works, but we lived in a house that had a balcony once and pigeons would perch on the railing and crap all over it.

We attached a couple of rubber snakes on the railing and never saw another pigeon.

I bet someone could figure out how to electrify the roof/hood. Not enough of a jolt to kill, but enough to get the bird off the car.

I actually started putting a piece of Reynolds Wrap foil on my antena, making it look like wings and they have left the car alone. Funny because people look at the Fit like it is from another planet and now my car is sitting in the garage with a piece of foil on the antena. It may look strange but at least the pigeons are leaving it alone. I remove the foil before I hit the streets. They have found a new thing of sitting on any car with a roof rack - so for now the problem has been solved. With a Fit life is never boring!

I like the owl on the antenna. Maybe a cat would be better.
