Plan to buy a Fit this month

Well, after keeping my 94 Del Sol 128K miles alive, I have decided to trade it in for a Fit. I have wanted more room in a car since buying a house and the Fit seems like a winner.

I plan to buy the manual Fit and want some advice if I should step up to the Sport package or just buy the base one.

My long term plans will be to change out the shocks, springs, wheels, tires, and either the super charger or turbo outfits like I have been reading about on this site. If do get the Sport model, will I be removing parts when I do my upgrades?

I really want a white Fit, but none of the dealers in my area have any used, so I probably will buy a new one in Blue or Black as my second choice. I hope to learn plenty about this car and from the threads I have read, it seems like this site is pretty knowledgeable in general.

oh, hay.

i went from a del sol to the fit as well. i'd say it's down to, DO YOU LOVE TO DRIVE? if you do, get the sport. if you don't give a rat's ass what you drive. if it's just a gas pedal and steering wheel to you, get the base.

it'd be more expensive down the road to "make" a sport.

in other words, GET THE SPORT MANUAL TRANSMISSION!!!!!!

First of all Welcome to Fitfreak man. With all the mods you have in mind i think you should go ahead and get the Sport Model. You have nothing listed aesthetically so really the sport body kit really makes the car stand out. If you do decide to go FI i believe you'll have to remove your fog lights for the intercooler pipings.

The previous poster summed it up pretty well I think. When I was driving my old cars, it was literally "I don't care what POS I drive". Then I bought my Fit AT base and now I'm like "Damn, this would be so much more awesome if it was the Sport MT". The base offers more than some other base compacts just by the fact it's the Fit, but in the long run I'm gonna spend more if I wanna make the body look nicer, plus I'll never have the advantages of paddle shifters and those things.

So in short, get the Sport if you love to drive. If driving is more a chore or something that needs to be done, the base will be good for you.

Oh yeah, I have been lurking on this site for some time. I have read up on the mods on the Fit and due to the success you guys are having with huffed and turbo'd Fits, it has made me decide to get one.

I was looking at trying to find an older Honda Hatch to mod and use as my daily. The Del Sol was a hand me down from a family member, and it has served me well in the past three years, but I need the room. I was kind of disappointed that Honda left its fans in the cold without doing another hot hatch, but it looks like I can have my cake and eat it too if I want to mod my own.

This car will be my daily driver, and I want it to be as fun as it can be. I was just curious if the sport model was only a trim level or if it had different components that would negate me from putting on my own anti-sway bars, springs, shocks, brakes etc...

Also, are 16 inch rims the max for these cars? It seems that any bigger and you start to have rubbing issues.

Sport has nicer interior materials, body kit, foglights, spoiler and cruise control and 15" mags.

Power/suspension is the same on ALL fit models.

For rim size, you can go as high as 18's IF you have the proper offset. Rubbing has little to do with rim height. and more to do with offset and tire width. Basically any rim 7" wide with a 40-45mm offset should not rub at all with a 205 width tire. 35m offset 7" wide rim with a 205 will very slightly rub if your really low/bottom the suspension,

it doesn't necessarily matter about the rim diameter. but the offset. some people rub with wheels and no drop. but you can drop on stock wheels ALL DAY.

the sport has 2 more speakers. 200 watt stereo instead of 160. 15" alloy wheels instead of 14" steel rims. Cruise control isn't available on the base. oh, and the k20 is optional on the sport.

Welcome to the Forum. This is probably the best forum Ive been on. Everyone here is always willing to help each other out.
Oh and the Sport also comes with the AUX port!
I would get the Taffetta White. Too bad they were impossible to find in the Sport trim and in a 5MT.

Welcome to the forum.

Make a list of what your "needs" are for the car and that will help you decide if you should go with a base or a sport.

I already talked with a dealer in town, they have the Bright Blue Sport in Manual, ony 12 miles.

As long as I can get a fair deal with my Del Sol as trade, I should be driving in the driving seat soon.

My goals? Daily driver that will be modded for enhanced commuter work.

Did you have the base 1.5L S model or the Vtec Del Sol?

How was your experience from going to the Fit from the Del Sol? As fun, more fun, equal fun?
