07 Fit Issues at 42k Broken A/C!!!
07 Fit Issues at 42k Broken A/C!!!
Well here we sit at 42,000 miles on our 07 Fit we picked up in Sept 06. Today we paid almost 200 bucks for the dealership to tell us something damaged the A/C condensor which is not covered under any of our warranties, including the extended add on. We also have a broken fog light lense. We had a leak coming from the driver's door which was filling the rear up with water. I had to remove all the sound deadening and throw away the rear mats due to the mildew smell.
The car has been from Key West to New York City. It has been nothing but reliable engine/trans wise but the accessories are taking a beating.
Has anyone else had their condensor/fog lights get damaged?

While Honda's 36k warranty has run out and your extended warranty apparently does not cover accessories you aren't in luck. Make sure your extended warranty indeed does not cover A/C condensers even if you have to haven attorney check it. Aftermarket warranties are notorious for avoiding payment.
Incidently, how was the condenser damaged? And has it been in a wreck, which would certainly explain the door leak.

Yea we drive it everywhere!! Multiple trips per year to Florida from the middle of Va. Regular trips to Hatteras and weekly trips to Richmond. It's been everywhere.

The condensor was probably damaged from a rock is what the tech said. I plan on leak checking it myself just to make sure it isn't something like a seal, but with the amount of abuse the front of this car has taken I wouldn't doubt a small rock hit. I mean a fog light lense has already been destroyed.
The car was bought brand new and the leak stemmed from a bad vapor seal on the driver's door and was repaired under warranty.
yeah put some lamin-x on those fogs.
it helps alot, that film is pretty thick.
but on the note of the a/c condensor. pssh go to another dealership and try to get that fix. thats horrible. its under the extended warranty, they should fix it. if not write to honda of america or some sort, because that is rediculous.

if the a/c condenser was damaged by a rock or some road debris, i don't see why it would be covered under warranty. hopefully that wasn't the case and they will fix it for you.
I just crossed 59k and except for one trip to Toronto, my Fit has never left the Philly area.

Well I replaced the condensor myself to avoid an 800 dollar dealer charge. Guess what? It's a pretty simple job. I wish I would have done a step by step just to show how easy it really is.
Remove bumper.
Unbolt middle radiator support piece that runs vertical.
Unbolt the two 10 mm lines on the condensor and remove.
Install new condensor. Cut the rubber foam from the top of old condensor and zip tie a piece onto sides of new condensor for protection.
Reinstall.
Use an A/C recharge kit from auto parts store.
Enjoy A/C again especially on last 3200 mile road trip!!!!
