I currently have a 5 year lease on my '08. Limited to 24,000 km/year but the good news is that the charge for km over that will only happen if my Fit goes back to Honda Canada. My dealer told me that they tend to buy-out the vehicles that they lease and when that happens the km that are over do not need to be paid out buy the leasee (a.k.a. me).

There is also the pretty standard restriction about modifying the car: The car must be in similar condition (except wear and tear, a.k.a. no mods) to time of lease. Any changes made is a leasee's expense to have undone at end/termination of lease (i.e. If you decide that you would like a sunroof and get it cut in, when your lease is up you must pay to have the sunroof taken out).

All that being said, I am still doing what I want with the car (most of it is easily undone). If it goes back to Honda Canada I will have undone everything. But I am planning to buy out so I'm not too worried.

My reason for leasing was (1) much lower monthly payment/great interest rate and (2) $500 cheaper than purchase price (Not much but it all helps).
