Water on back floorboard, help!

Last week after two days of heavy rain, I noticed pooling water on the floor board where the rear seats lock in. Has anyone else noticed water getting into the cabin area. It's on both sides in the rear. I really wouldn't had noticed it, but I was cleaning out the car an noticed something on the floor and went to pick it up and it was wet. I pressed the carpet near the seat lock and water just seeped out. I used a towel to get some of it out, but it's still damp. It goes into the dealer today. Hopefully they can find out where it's getting in. If anyone else had this problem and found a solution I'd appreciate their help. The car is only a year old. (the windows were not down)

ive yet to encounter it, but do you have any mods on the car?

might want to get a shopvac and vac all the water out before it
molds.

No mods. I tried to soak it up with a towel. Hopefully the dealer will figure out where it's getting in. It's suppose to rain here Thursday and Friday. I noticed the seal around the door seems loose compared to other cars I've owned. I'll post if they figure it out.

Thanks for the reply.

if the rear shock mount was loose it could leak, but it sounds more
like it came in from the top.

Which dealership are you taking it to? Just curious because I used to work at Jay Wolfe Acura.

You sure windows fully rolled up? Sunroof fully closed? Passenger with very wet feet riding in Fit?
Yah, make sure you fully dry it out before proceding; mold, rot, and rust, not to mention smell can result. Take heart, a cat could have ridden there. customer came in one day ... you don't wanna hear about it.

I'm taking it to Jay Wolfe Honda. It's acutally on both sides. I didn't have anyone riding in the back. I don't have a sunroof and the cat doesn't have a key. I don't roll the windows down very often and never leave them down when I park. I wouldn't have noticed it if it wasn't for the stuff on the floor. It looked dry until I pressed on the carpet. Hopefully they will find it.

My dealer in NC told me that all of the fits they've sold(4) have been brought back for this reason. He said it was the seal inside the door panels. He said the factory didn't press them down all the way and water coming in at the bottom of the windows came inside the car instead of exiting the outside of the door. He said it only happens when it rains for a long period or very hard downpour. He said all you have to do is remove the door panels and push down the seals, then replace the panels. I haven't done it yet so I can't be excact about the procedure. It has rained alot today but I have not checked mine yet. Hope this helps

I hope it's that. I checked the tire area and no water. It seems the only places that were wet were on the back floor board and damp on the side near the door.

For those of us who are visually inclined, when someone does this can they post pictures of exactly which seals are loose?

Like I said I haven't tried it yet so I don't know exactly what to do yet. I haven't even checked my car yet to see if it is wet. It rained all day today, so I'll check in the morning. if I do it I will post pics. If someone else does it first, please post pics too.

Okay, They said they couldn't duplicate the water leak and haven't heard of any service bulletin for the Fit on water leaks. One good bit of good news, I got my dash rattles taken care of. I'll keep an eye on the carpet situation an check it after it rains again. If it does it again, back to the dealer! I'd fix it myself, but if other fit owners are having the same problem, at least there will be some sort of record.

UPDATE!!! The Fit went back for the third time with water coming in from the front and rear doors. The dealer finally was able to find the leaks using a powder warer leak detector. It was leakfing from all four doors through the inner seal. They removed and replaced the sealant following the Jazz service bulletin. My sincere thanks to BIBIS and the link to he Jazz problem!!! The dealer said Honda of America is going to release a bulletin for the Fit on the water leaks as well. Of course the actual test will be the next hard rainfalll. FIT FREAKS you're the best!!!!
