NO locking gas door??

so i've notice that the fit dont come with a locking gas door that sucks.
Am i the only one who is annoyed by pulling out the key everytime at the pump just to open the gas cap. Honda should put a lockin gas door for the 09's

you're saying you have to take the key out to open a manually opened gas door/gas cap?

i leave my key in the ignition (car off) sometimes when i fill up

He must have a locking gas cap since there is no locking gas door...

A good idea, with gas prices being what they are and the stories about gas thieves.

A locking gas door is absolutely no help in preventing gas theft. All your thief needs is a screwdriver to pop open any locking gas door. This destroys the door, and you need body shop repairs to fix it.

Unattach the key from the ring and leave it in the slot next to your left knee. That's what I do so I don't necessarily have to take my car keys with me.

Wrap the head of the gas cap key in Velcro, and attach a strip of Velcro to the vertical side of the dash- keep the key stuck between your door and the dash until you need it, stick it back when you're done. I've been doing that for the last year.

Isn't there a screen/block to prevent siphoning? i hear now that the meanies are simply poking holes in gas tanks and draining them. i'm sure this mostly happens on trucks since they sit higher.

Which one did you get? I searched for "gas cap" and it listed nothing for a Fit (or Element, which supposedly uses the same cap).

If i was going to steal gas it wouldnt be from a fit.. it would be from a huge truck or something with a bigger tank.

Myself, I'm more worried about some prankster pouring contaminants into the tank and wrecking my engine.

Locking gas caps are more trouble than they are worth (to me). I had to replace my gas cap and did not feel like paying the $42 from the dealer so i got the only one i could find locally, and lucky me, it has a lock.

The thing is annoying.

^ Same thing with me.
Fit tank is to small so not a tempting target like a truck/suv with their large tank.
