i am really happy with my gas milege compare to my 05 4runner V8. with the 4runner i would fill up about 20 gallons full tank cost about 75 bucks and get about 320 miles one tank. Now with the fit i get about 335 miles one tank and cost about 37 bucks to fill up. I do alot of city and highway driving with an auto...i like my fit

I just filled up today, gas light wasn't on yet but getting close. I managed 44.3 MPG from this tank. BTW, I think the miles on the trip odo was close to 386.

On my first tank, I got about 42 MPG. Now I have more than 3000 miles on my Fit Sport MT and usually get around 38 MPG.

I drive to and from work, which is 4 miles one way, grocery shopping and a little longer distance (20-30 miles maybe) once or twice a week. I always take the mid-grade gas...89 octane.
Last tank was ~8.5 gal with 325 miles on it. But if I do longer distances on the interstate at constant speed, I get 200 miles with half a tank of gas

Are you certain you filled to same level before and after refilling. Most really don't.
You have to fill right to the upper neck where the gas level is visible and on refilling fill right to same level.
It is time consuming to very carefully do that procedure but necessary.
My guess is you didn't have the tank filled before you started the 130 miles.
good luck.

My second fill up was a bit better:

8.3 gallons @209 miles = 25 MPG @ 320 total miles on the odo.

Probably getting broken in a bit

My numbers are pretty consistent with what I've seen here. I've gotten anywhere from 30-34 w/ mostly city driving with some highway treks. The best I got was about 38-ish when I drove several hundred miles between CA and AZ with a crosswind (didn't use cruise, and didn't (ahem, *couldn't* ) speed much).

Its still creeping up!

3rd fill up

222 miles at 8.2 gallons

27.073 MPG!

I've been analyzing it a lot and I do believe that a lot of the lower MPG may be related to the sticky tires on the Fit. As I put more miles on them (575ish now) the tires rub of some of that initial rubber and you start getting better mpg!

The car is also breaking in. Your mileage should become pretty consistent after about 1k miles.

Well, it seems my score is a little higher than average - ~38 mpg [~6.12 l/100km], 90/10 % city/highway with AT.
Totals 15K km now [or over 9K miles]

Hey Y2K,

Don't forget that to get an accurate reading you have to top off the tank, which takes a few minutes of very slow pumping after the gas pump's first shutoff. You must go from top-off to top-off, or you will get an erroneous reading. My bet is that it wasn't topped-off before the drive. And yes, your mileage will get better, but not by 50% or anything like that.

Congratulations on your new car!!! I hope you will enjoy it.

This fillup was a bit different. I just came back from a 311 mile vacation this weekend. Mostly 55 mpg on average, never above 65. But we did have to climb and go back down the coast mounains.

311 miles at 9.8 gallons

31.73 mpg at 1100ish total miles on the car.

Funny thing was that there really was not many people at the beach. Gas is clearly hurting things. But in one haf hour period I saw 6 Fit's which is more then I have seen in 2 weeks in city (1 million people).

I agree...I just filled up my Fit after getting it on Wednesday. I crammed 11 gallons in ( I know it says there is a 10.8 gal tank) and went 284 miles. Mileage is only going to increase as the car breaks in. I am not worried about it at all.

also, if there is ethanol use in your area, that can slightly lower your mpg. i know we have a lot of it in the DC area, so i'm not expecting QUITE as high numbers as everyone else, even after i break it in.

This is true. I remember when Ethanol was added to gas here in NY. At the time the car I was driving I noticed a definite drop in MPG as soon as it was added. Also anyone look at the window sticker on their Fit? At least on mine, an AT, it says "City MPG 27 - Expected range for most drivers 22 to 32 mpg Highway MPG 33 - Expected range for most drivers 27 to 39 mpg" Its funny too, the estimated Annual Fuel Cost, $1449 based on 15,000 miles at $2.80 per gallon. $2.80, how long ago did they print these lol!

2 more fill ups of about 27mpg each now at 1500 miles. I was looking through my saved documents and found the old excel files I kept on my 93 del Sol Si and 95 del Sol VTEC. Interesting info!

93 del Sol Si (SOHC VTEC 125hp) bought in 1994

Total miles 13,374
Gas Average Price: $1.399
Total Gas: $612.91
Total average mpg: 30.38
Average miles per week: 252

95 del Sol VTEC (B16a DOHC VTEC 160hp) bought in 95
*I only kept data for the first 6 months on it*
Total miles 6667.4
Gas Average Price: $1.48
total gas: $379.03
Total Average mpg: 25.89
Average miles per week: 229.91

My excel sheets are pretty detailed, updated every week. I guess I was a bit early on the hypermiling game then most

My mileage didn't get consistent until 2k, since then I haven't gotten below 29. Usually around 33 or so...also, pump those tires to 40 lbs and it will help.
