65 vs 70 vs 75 mph?

Anyone with a scan gauge have any numbers on the gas mileage for these speeds with a 5 spd manual? This morning I did the drive to Phoenix at about 70 mph. The speed limit on I-17 is 75 mph for a good portion. I was wondering what the optimum speed would be for time vs mileage. In other words is the gas savings at 65 worth slowing it down from 75 or 70 MPH?

Curious to see what others are seeing with this.

Most of the people going for mileage don't go that fast to begin with
Things get exponentially worse over 60 MPH

It's just sooo tough to go 60mph on the highway, you get people flying up on you and passing you aggresivley (even if your in the right lane and the speed limit is 60mph)

so i just got my scangauge today, and one thing i find annoying is that it does not have like a 3-5 second average. you get the raw data every second, which jumps around alot. even on cruise control, you kinda have to try to average the numbers in your head in real time, which is not very safe to do on the road with traffic. well i tried it on the z4, not the fit yet.

If you had read schooling thread, you would have the clue to this one...lol

If you display the current avg you will see a reset select on the right. press it as often as you want to read averages. Way better than any sugested automatic 3-5 sec avg IMHO
You control the time based on what you are doing with the car.

some real help for you, let's see if you give reps as well as ask lol

There's a few like that. My average speed is about 55 MPH on highways now, I just stay to the right of the right lane (Ridge Ride).

I guess there's no point in asking how the 75-80 range is for mileage...

At that speed in an AT, I'd wager 30-32. Not good.

I went about 320 miles of almost all freeway driving at 70 MPH and got 35.5 mpg. Imagine what I could have gotten if I did 65 or 60.
